Went to see the latest Bond movie tonight. Nodded off twice. It was just another action film. The wit, underlying humour and class of the original Bond movies have vanished.

What say you ?

Galactic_bodhi: What do you expect from the director of the new Bourne incarnation.

Richard Chamberlain was the first Jason Bourne. He brought the humanity of the Bourne character to life. Matt Damon is machine-like, and even though thats the character, its difficult to care about him...not so with Chamberlain. The original mini-series agonized over the morality of being such a killing machine. The new one, glorified it...

I'm just wondering if that's where Bond is heading...

It does have a lot to do with the person playing the role, and previous characters played by the actor in question. I don't mind Damon as Bourne, and enjoyed the series of movies so far. Not familiar with Richard Chamberlan's performance as Bourne, but would like to see it now that I'm aware of it.

As far as Bond movies go, I have liked them all thus far and don't really care who's playing the part. they've all been pretty good, but I haven't seen the last two...or three.roll eyes

Jane Bond....oh yes!laugh She should have stayed around longer!

Richard Chamberlain was very good as Bourne, certainly more human than Damon's version of really trying to be more robot than human. Many of the older versions of characters and/or movies are indeed better than any remakes. I did rather like Peter Sellers though as James Bond in the old Casino Royale....David Niven and Roger Moore were disastrous as far as I'm concerned...too stilted, too jaded and too many flat jokes.
