I have married friends who have husbands that demand dinner at a certain time and complain when it isn't to there liking. They complain about the house, but don't seem to lift a finger. In my personal experience, I've walked into the coffee room only to find a man staring at the coffee maker and then looks at me "oh, good, someone who know how to make coffee." I didn't know breasts was a prerequisite. So, what I was wondering, why don't men help out when they are enjoying the benefits of the dual income? Please don't tell me it is because you do all the yard work, which is only 3 months out of the year. Have any of the women on here experienced this before? And why can't men find their socks?

The anwer is simple ...Mothers.

Yes Mothers who dont prepare their sons for the real world by teaching them how to do the practical everyday things that have to be done.
Of course previous generations did stick to the so called 'traditional' roles of breadwinner and homemaker but in this day and age it is simply not possible for all Mothers to stay home.

I have 2 daughters and 1 son and all of them know how to cook and do housework. No woman will ever have to be Mammy to my son.

I understand traditional values in a traditional setting. My mother was a stay-at-home mom, and it would make sense for her to do the housework, along with us kids, but when both parties are working, it isn't fair for the woman to have to do both. With the high cost of living, it is now a necessity for women to work as well. That is part of the reason I've stayed single, I don't need to worry about doeing someone elses laundry, cooking etc. I have more freedom and time to enjoy my life.

i think one of the reasons women like doing all the housework is that it gives them a sense of purpose...and brings out their caring maternal side, or something, in them as well... we men should insist we be allowed to do our part..or we can become too dependent on women..and that can give them too much control..it's only right to let them feel important..but not superior....jmho.

I really don't think good coffee is a gender thing. Some of the guys in my office make pretty good coffee. When they give me that dumb look, I show them how to do it. Sort of the saying, you give a man a fish you feed him for the day, but give a man a pole and teach him to fish you feed him for life.

I would think the logical place for socks would be in the bedroom dresser.

I agree.

One of my younger brothers had to learn the lesson the hard way. He decided to help out my older brother with the dishes while my older brother was at work. He loaded the dishwasher and then added the liquid soap. Unfortunately, the soap was meant for washing the dishes by hand. He then went to check on the mail. When he got back, there were suds all the way up to the counters. When my older brother got home, he asked him what happened. The carpet was a little wet between the kitchen and the living room and the kitchen floor was really slick. laugh

making coffee is a skill which improves with practice..if one of the genders is given the task more often than the other, then that gender will by necessity improve in their coffee making skills and everybody will be happy because of it...geez, don't moan at us for helping you to improve..thank us for aiding your personal development. we sacrifice our own advancement for yours...isn't that what you want from us? ...that we lay down our lives for you? ...that we strive to ensure you become all the woman you possibly can be?..conversing

I totally agree with all that you say that men are totally undomesticated and useless at sharing the domestic duties roll eyes that's why I used to keep all the ones I lived with locked up in my hole and just let them out for special occassions such as going to work and attending to my womanly needs laugh

You're right. Women have been so selfish doing all the housework and not letting men advance. So, women, you heard it here. You got to be fair and let the men do more of the housework. You can't have all the control. lol rolling on the floor laughing
