I have sabotaged my future by taking the step of trusting my feelings with someone else.

I don't know if it's just about not trusting ourselves. I also feel it's about not really trusting the other person.
Cause if you threre's no trust in a new relationship/friendship then there was nothing there to begin with.And you sure wouldn't want that person in your life anyway.

Sure cause if you've been in or just left a rotten relationship you're probably scared of getting hurt again.

I have learned in the past I was not as good at picking the bad ones out to avoid. But I am learning and can see more than I ever used to. It's much better to avoid one's that will just hurt us. And to take time to see if the other person is real. They can't hide what they really are too long. The truth will come out.
I think if any sabotaging is going on it's cause we sensed something not right. That is good then, cause sometimes if we listen to our gut feeling it's totally different than what Our minds thought.
Do we fear relationships ?I do cause if it's another bad relationship, I will be getting hurt.
Do we fear getting close to someone ? Getting close to someone we take the risk of getting hurt. But to find real love we have to take that chance.
Do we fear someone getting close to us ? Only if they aren't the right one cause we will get hurt and they can pull you in anyway, cause of our loneliness. No one wants a shallow love , it won't last.

All of the above especially if we have been down that road a few times. It is hard to put our hearts out there to get stomped on again and again or maybe we inadvertently cause pain for someone else if it doesn't work out. In spite of there being so many people out there online there is a lot of fear. When we open ourselves up to get close to another or they open themselves up we expose and observe the shadow side of each other. That is what is the deal breaker a lot of times. Do you see enough in the other person to go for it or do you walk away.
Did you build up expectations that weren't true. Sometimes even when we can pass all those questions our hearts have retreated and we can't let it happen.
That is why I love the saying.

Once you start to look within to see why things go wrong, you begin to be able to turn the page. Until then, the names change, but the story stays the same.

I'm not sure. Recently the only thing that's happened is that after a couple of dates it just didn't work out. They weren't the right ones. I got my hopes up too early...a mistake I won't make again.
The other way I've sabotaged myself is by getting married to a man too soon...only to have him show his true colors afterward. He wasn't the man I married, and I stayed too long, trying to make it work anyway. That's hard to do when someone is telling you that everything you do, from the way you cook to the way you drive, is wrong.
So, now I'm going to be more careful, and wait until I find someone who fits well with me before I actually figure that I'm in a relationship. I want to move a bit slower now...so, maybe now I do fear getting close to someone, and letting them get close to me...or at least too close too fast. But I don't think I'd sabotage a chance at a relationship because of it.

The trick is to admit the fear and be open anyway. Not to deny what we really feel and bury it under false positivism. To face our fears about all this nonsense and to realize others are there to. Not to close off from connections with others but to be honest about it. To go out with our eyes wide open. David Grey song lol.
Sometimes we are simply not at a place to get to know others beyond a friendship basis. The timing in our lives is off. If we do meet someone and start out as friends then it becomes something naturally wonderful.
I guess there are those who have people sweep them off their feet, but I really don't think that lasts a lot of times. Just my opinion.
