I just replied to another thread about honesty. I think at times that I am to damn honest for my own good. Do you think at times we tell to much about our self on here? Or is it ok to tell of the horrid things that has happened in our pasts? I do not want to be judged from things that has happened in my past. But yet the past is that past...... What do all of you think?
The past is what has made us who we are today. I share mine if it is relevant to the subject at hand, and have shared quite a bit of it. If what I've been through, and come through so positively and strongly helps one other person, then it's worth what I experienced, and that I shared it.

Shirley my own mother told me many years ago; Jenny, you talk too much..........about yourself. I don't know if this has to do with honesty perse but just being an open book, having nothing to hide. So yes you/we/I can be too honest for our own good. Are we women not to be somewhat mysterious? Lol I never make it.

Neither do I...mysterious is not something I've ever been called. Open book is more like it.
I think there are some things that need to be kept back as it's almost impossible to give completely accurate information on a thread. Some things are better said in person.
But that's just my opinion... Whatever works for the individual.
My mother has told me for years... Shirley you will not find what your looking for because you tell to much. Well if/when I find that special person I do not want their to be any surprises. I have not told all but when I find that right person for me, I will.

True...which is why I corrected something left out of one story on the two threads it had been shared on. I'd never written the story before, and left out a bit of important information since it's a very personal thing that was hard to share. That turned out to be rather pertinent info that got left out.
However, the reason that I did it in the thread was to share it with someone in particular, and since it was already written in here, it was easier to do it that way than to write it again. Sometimes I find it easier to share those things here in forums than to write them one-on-one.
Sometimes you can be honest and still be honest! by this I mean.
A lady comes to my father and is proud of her hat......which is awefull looking. But not wanting to hurt her feelings and taste is subject. my father said in all honesty after being asked an opinion.
"You know, anyone thats wants that kind of hat, thats the one they should buy if they can."

Shirley49WV: What I was referring to was out past. Plain and simple do we need to tell all the bad things that has happened? And maybe our infidilty.....

Very diplomatic. I remember one of my teachers at the GIA said that when people showed him their diamonds which were of poor quality he always told them, "I'm sure that brings you a lot of pleasure." Which I thought was a nice way of avoiding their real question.
