I am a none smoker for many reasons and one is because of second hand smoke and the toxins. However I have to wonder how many cigs it would take to create the polution of one bus or truck , even a car when it is started...hmmmmmmmmm...or does any one care

Standing at the bus stop, cars stopped in traffic and their exhaust blowing in your face....

Sitting in a car, with a smoker with windows closed, does not take much to pollute... one cigarette lit in my house has it stinking for days. JMO...1 can cause pollution, but it's not as noticable as 10.

Smoke from someone's cigarette drifting into my face or in a closed car, bothers me alot more than it used to. I find I become short of air quicker because of the smoke. There is an asthma problem in the family, so my lungs just may be more sensitive to it.

I'm just going to guess. A carton of cigs is about a quarter pound of burnable fuel and would probably last about ten percent of a piece of wood the same size when burnt. Hence, not counting the deliberate injections of stuff like nicotine and whatever, one cigarette is a fraction of the intake of the crap that comes out of wood.

Once again, just guessing but also know from driving truck and flying in choppers that it takes seconds to get physically ill from gas and deisel fumes but have never heard of anybody getting hospitalized from second hand smoke minutes after inhaling it.

In short, smoking is bad but is probably an accumulated thing whereas when you get hit with fuel discharge, it is far worse.

So, if you were to stand with your lips around an exaust pipe for a minute and suck, it would probably be the equivilent of smoking fifty cartons of cigarettes.

Just guessing.

Have to tell you that my house does not smell of smoke and have been told this by all who visit. I keep the air flowing throughout the house, and never smoke in certain rooms. It is easy to keep the place clean and smoke free, so I tell folk I do not smoke hey hey! It is only idiots that smoke in a car with the windows closed yuck!! Apparently inhaling the fumes at a bus stop is equivelant to you smoking 20 cigs!! Stats say this not me. I dont know I do not use the bus myself. Best Wishes and Merry Christmas.
