I have now spent a wonderful Christmas with my lovely lady in Pisa, Italy. And have to make some hard decisions. My lease on my house runs out in April, am I am thinking of not renewing but moving lock stock and barrel to Pisa.

Now hears the Dilemma, if I move I will have nowhere to live and no job and no money.

The plus side, I can find work reasonably easy, not great pay but enough to get by on temporarily until I get settled, finding accommodation though is a problem, its either not available or very expensive .

I have checked and found that I can get cheap flights between Italy and the UK so will be able to keep up with my youngest children, their mother has agreed to them visiting me in holidays as well, so that’s a great weight off my shoulders.

So what do you guys reckon, should I go and start a new but somewhat precarious life in Italy, or stay in the UK and carry on trying to find work, which at this time seems impossible.

Any thoughts????

As I see it and assuming your lady is in agreemnent and can possible assist, I think you should firstly consider getting a reasonably price flat sorted out in Pisa or nearby to give you a *billet* there as your immediate prority.

Next - If you can afford both I suggest - Keep the UK base and sub let it to someone whom you KNOW is rent reliable.
If it's allowable in the tenancy agreement.

Then - Just concetrate on a trade job or another suiitable to you in Italy.

Cheers and best wishes to you and yours for 2009

Hi! First find yourself job and accommodation in Italy for sure and than go. And than keep on looking for a job in UK.

Good luck.

If I were in your shoes, I'd be very dubious at this early stage of knowing her about upping sticks and moving to another country, far away from your kids and with no place to stay... Anyway, as you're giving so much up then why can't you move in with her dunno Also, if the flights are cheap from UK to Italy then why not stay here where you are guaranteed a roof over your head and close to your kids until you've been seeing her a bit longer...

Just make sure it's for completely the right reason and not because subconsciously you feel you won't ever get a job in the UK again. Also, be aware you've just returned from an honeymoon period so could be still wearing the honeymoon goggles and not seeing things too clearly.

Good luck in making the correct decision for your long term happiness and hope it all turns out for the best wine

I agree with Zell, act in haste and repent at leisure......

take more time for such an important decision and only give up your base when you are a lot more sure of things.

Good Luck thumbs up

Well thanks for all the replies, I have made the decision now that I shall go, if it all fails well at least I will have had the experience, as some of you said, I would only spend the rest of my life thinking "What if". Cherie, is returning to Australia in a couple of weeks to see her family and then returning, by then I hope to be working and have somewhere to live.o thanks again for all your comments, I have read them all and taken them all on face value, appreciate your honesty..

Did I really say that?

Well well, guess I was referring to those ignorant few that frequent the International Forum, would never have said that about the British or European sites.

Which was probably why I posted on the UK site

Lets face it, very few have arguments on the UK or EU sites, as we tend to laugh at those who try to cause friction.

Hope your New Year brings you all you deserve Mindfful

was that veiled sarcasm?

i believe we all get what we deserve but thats a whole 'nother multi-layered conversation

far as im concerned you mentioned that you admin another site a few times in your last incarnation
and in my mind CS is all one site-regardless of various forums

i was just being rude with my remark since i felt you had been rude repeatedly proclaiming the superiority of 'your site' to CS

i think im tryin to get in all the rudeness i can before the new year when i will suddenly become mother theresarolling on the floor laughing
