A few, one man in particular, does not like me to talk about the past. I do like it, and at times do so. As those who have read my stories know, my life has not always been a bed of rozes. I do not like to dwell on the not so great times. Compared to many people, It WAS a bed of rozes! I often recall the many sayings of wisdom my dad used to tell us kids and I remember and use them, still today. Yet I do have many great memories, and at times love to recal some of them.
Do you do this? How much can you talk about a future that has not yet happened? Sure we can talk about our dreams and goals etc.

I met a quantum physicist last year, and one of the many conversations where he completely baffled me, was when he would say that our future has already happened. And stuff about 'transmutation'
Anyway, I am reading a book based on principles of quantum physics called "Quantum Success" by Sandra Anne Taylor. She deals in great detail about the processes involved in being able to manifest our dreams. Hence to create our future.

jeepers: I love the "do you remember when" stories with old friends.
So do I and they are mostly good memories right? I have soooo many great memories I wrote some of my earlier experiences down like the war, my first year as an immigrant etc.( they are on the net) I am only sorry I did not keep a diary, in my later years. The twenty years that spend alone in between husbands. Lol it might have become a best seller.

Fascinating material.
That sounds indeed like it would be an interesting reading. I am fascinated by the profecies in the Bible. It tells about the past, precent and the future. It is here, when it tells me about the future, that I am very interested.
I love to make planes about future and talk about it and i trie to stick to it because thats the thing that moves u on in life....talk about past but only good things coz bad r already forgoten

Yes I agree when talking about the past it should be mainly good memories. Sad memories are good if you want a pity party.
It is strange when I wrote my stories and wrote about the war, strange how much I remembered. Now that it is on paper, it has left my memory. One publisher told me she enjoyed the war stories the best. Well that is because you don't often get to hear it throught the eyes of a child. These stories are not sad for me really, even if it was not a good time. It is just part of history.

When in K/L on returning from O/S, I purchased a Sony handicam. I intend to turn it on, and just let my father talk. He has so many fabulous stories of his youth, during the war, being captured by the Germans, being shot at, escaping...

Just learning how to use the darn thing.
Venere that is a great idea!. We did not have handicam's but we did have recorders. My sister came to visit with her husband and kids and I thought it was a good idea to sing, talk etc. We lived in California then.
This tape was send to Holland. My other sister later told that my dad left the room. We found out later that he knew already that he was dying. He heard the tape in April, in June he was gone.
What made me make this recording at that time? I will never know but it was great as my dad heard us for the last time.
Your idea may hopefully be picked up by other's. Why don't you start a thread about it?
There is life in hope of the future dreamed of and lessons in the life lived past. We lived in the present spilling into the future. The lessons of the past give direction of those things dreamed of in hope of the better.
I read somewhere that if you stop dreamingyou stop living. It isnice to be able to dream, but then you have to try convert your dreams into reality. Talking about the past helpsyou to understand the present person and helps you to set up the future.

I agree with you but don't you think there is a lot more to talk about when looking back? Yes the past has made us the way we are today, be it good or bad. So many things were so different when I was growing up.
No phone, no oven, no refridgerator, no washing machine, it was rented by the hour. No dryer, no T.V. Not many owned a camera, our pictures were taken by a street photografer. No car. Nothing was on credit etc. etc. No hip replacements, or new knees, so much better is all this today.

Yes this I agree if you stop dreaming you stop living. Many things have been invented by "dreamers"

gozoman2: The past helps you make your future clearer....
I believe it serves many things. One thing; remembering some of the not so good things from the past. makes you appreciate the now more. Eventhough for me, many things would not be necessary that we have now.

Yeah those were called the "good old days"
It is funny that when looking back...it is the good ole days. Then looking to the future we dream of better things. But in the present most only see the bad things of life. We in time, we are now living in the good ole days of the future. Maybe we should enjoy them while we and they are here!
