dillydally: At what point in history did youth and beauty become more important than age and wisdom? In lots of tribal societies, the elders were seen as a source of wisdom and were treasured by their society. Looks were unimportant.
In our own society now, youth and beauty are worshipped far above age and wisdom. What happened? When did the shift occur? Whats important to you ??Evening people
Hi, Dilly! I agree, and it's especially problematic when someoe is old, wise, *and* beautiful... Then whom do you worship?
hmmm i think the division in to a concept of youth and beauty and another of age and wisdom itself is a little biased and generalized.
Beauty is not always in the youthful and age doesn't always bring wisdom.
To me its the wisdom hmmm rather more so a kind heart which is " beautiful " . That can itself be a sign of youth in someone older.
A lot of older men and women i have known are far more beautiful both in the way they look and by their nature than many youngsters. While i have seen a handful of youngsters with both inner and external beauty as well.
Its all in the perception of both the person and the observer i guess.

And that is another fine question that we will never know the answer to Dilly!

Hey there dilly!
Well, I'm going to make this short (not feeling to philosophical tonight) and will say this:
wisdom+beauty+inner youth+inner beauty=profit
Whatever the age is.
I've encountered some older people with zero wisdom and maturity, and I've encountered some younger people with a lot of wisdom and maturity.
But on the average, age and wisdom go hand in hand...unless the force is strong in somebody.

Beautifully said, Riya. I agree...and couldn't have said it better.
I think beauty is the thing which initially attracts us, but it never keeps us....I'd rather live with an "average" sweetheart, than a stunning "beatch"....
