I see what you mean Emc_eile. That may be a little bug that got in when we installed the new Polls feature last eve. We'll look into it.

Have any of you clicked on Polls in your top navigation bar? Here is some of the info we posted about the new Polls feature:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

CS Polls is a new connecting tool on the site that allows you to post a question along with several multiple choice answers in a poll format, and get opinions from members about things that interest you. The polls may also provide interesting topics for discussion in the forums.

Enter a question with up to 10 multiple-choice answers. Each time a member votes on your poll, the total counts will be updated and the poll results will display on a bar graph. Polltakers will have the choice to enter a formal comment to the poll question in the Polls area and (when designated by the poll author) to enter discussion about the poll in a poll forum thread. Polls are easy to use and pretty much self-explanatory. You'll learn the features as you go along.

You can create a poll either to appear in the Forums (where it is open for discussion here in the Ireland Forum), or you can create a poll to appear only in the formal Polls area (open for comments there only). So not all polls have to be forum polls... it's up to each poll author. We created these two choices because some authors may choose to keep their poll in the Polls area where comments may be more serious, more focused and less likely to go off topic than a forum poll might be, while other poll authors may prefer the more active, casual discussion of their poll in a forum thread.

To start a poll that WILL appear in your Ireland Forums for discussion:
Click the new "CREATE NEW POLL" button above in the light green Forum nav bar in your top navigation of a forum page (next to "Create New Thread").
Polltakers may vote directly in the first post of a poll thread.

To start a poll that will NOT appear in the Forums:
Click the "POLLS" link in the dark green top navigation bar.
Comments may then be entered in that Polls area only.
These polls will receive more focused comments that will not be as likely to go off topic as “sometimes” happens in a forum thread.

To view and vote on Polls created by other members:
Click “POLLS” in the dark green top nav bar

Voting:
Voting on polls is anonymous, usernames are not listed. Click on the "Vote Breakdown" link underneath a poll to see how the voting on that poll is broken down by gender and age.

To see the results of the poll in any thread:
Click on the "Results" tab and it will show you a bar graph of the voting. Click on the "Poll" tab to cast your vote.

We hope this is an interesting addition to the site and that you will find thought-provoking questions and topics that will be of interest to Ireland members to vote on, comment on, and discuss.

Happy Holidays
