Yes...we have just started the change over to terrrestial digital reception here in Malta.
Infrastructure is already in place and service to digital transmission is provided in the home in both terrrestial signal and cable.
We do not however have any local stations which are transmitting in digital, but rely mostly on external sources for programming.
Italy in the meantime has already started full digital transmission over the entire island of Sardegnia as a trial base for future expansion over all national territory.
NY-Times on US Problems. Similar problems here in CH,and most likely elsewhere.
Hy Conrad...thanks for the article......
yes....basically same problems everywhere.....basically due to this being the first generation service.
As in all new technologies, as time progresses, more and more adjustments will be made until such situations are ironed out.
As in saying comparing the first black and white TV transmission to full color HD analog as we have today.
I actually have a problem with some stations simply because there is a block of apartments in direct line between my house and the local area digital transmitter.....even a building actually blocks the signal....
but as I said, such situations will be ironed out as time teaches us more of the technology.
If not mistaken, there is an EU directive that indicates 2015 (if not mistaken) as the period by which production of all analogue equipment is to be phased out entirely.
This also means that by that time all forms of communication should be digital in all EU member states.
