Some men are perceived as "self-confident".

Some men are perceived as "arrogant"

This also applies to ladies also.

What is the difference between self-confident and arrogant? I am talking about emotions, feelings and thought-processes and not about a textbook definition.

Example: If a man makes statements like he and only he is right...does that make him arrogant? What if he IS right most of the time. Is that a self-confident person?

Do men and women who want to show others on a forum, or in real life how intelligent they are considered arrogant? What if others are intelligent but are humble about it? Is that self-confidence?

Thanks to all the 2 people who will reply...laugh

I am just asking the question and will not participate too much in the thread.

Also, is arrogance a turn on? Do men and women who are extraordinarily confident turn your head in their direction?

Well ther is a difference........................BUT

TO most people if they like the person then they consider that person to be self-confident.

If they don't like the person or were turned down by the person then the person is considered to be arrogant........ JMOcheers

No, self confidence and arrogance are two completely different things. I like a man with self confidence, not a "shrinking violet" type. But that said, if a man is overly confident/arrogant/egotistical, I have an automatic "OFF" switch!! And it doesn't matter how charming, good-looking, humorous, etc he is..... he just won't do it for me!!

My raison d'etre is not to stroke someone's ego.... that's not to say I'm not prepared to be praiseworthy, appreciative and make him feel great when its due....

I just believe in.... balance. thumbs up

There is a fine line I suppose, but the difference is the way in which somebody portrays their character. I see nothing wrong in demonstrating self-confidence, but that also includes the ability to listen to others, which arrogant people fail to do.

Women too often have a problem when people mistake assertiveness for aggressiveness.

Hiding one´s light under a bushel though, is not self-confidence in my view.

Hi MB. wave
I actually state something similar in my profile add. "Confidence without arrogance...blah, blah, blah". That beind said I would like to make an observation. I have noticed over the years that a lot of arrogant people are publicly vocal about it-loud enough for everyone within near ear-shot to hear. Many seem to want to punctuate their words with very loud proclaimations!, (not always, but often enough for me).
I have experience truly confident people, no matter what their confidence is derived of, carry themselves with a bit more quiet, self awareness. It often exudes from them and they seem humbly unaware of it.

JMO
