Police, 3 plainclothed ones, beat a man to a pulp because as they told him, we don't like "brown" people. The assault as told by witnesses was totally unprovoked.
Now what is sooo very painfull (sarcastic here)is that all three are on leave with full PAY! Oh, oh, how painful is this "punishment" eh?
That is there punishment Jenny, that is the typical police policy for them to go out with full pay while an investigation is done. Then they will either get reinstated or be punished.

It was said that the Rodney King beating was unprovoked, by witnesses. It was later found that after being in a high speed chase and being on PCP and resisting arrest the officers careers were already down the tubes. you can't always beleieve the witnesses because they are rarely trained in obeservation.

It leaves me feeling sick! On the news here there is talk about little else. The victim was just delivering papers as he has been doing for six years. I sure hope and pray this father of three children will be richly compensated for his ordeal.

zee
In this case it was a taxi driver who saw it all right from the start. All three cops were found to be very drunk.

Surely the point of investigations is to ascertain the truth and therefore innocent until etc is the rule. People who think people should be punished without investigation are just showing another kind of prejudice.

Agree. If the police are guilty they should go to jail but only AFTER they are proven guilty.
The press does not decide the guilt of someone, only the courts, judges, and juries do.

I agree, Jenny. I hate injustice, and I hate prejudice of any kind. I hope those officers lose their jobs permanently. If it was truly unprovoked, they should when the investigation is over.

Sad to say too many police have gone beyond their duty at times. Some can not handle the power they have. A man died at out airport he was tassered 5 times. It has been proven that this man did do nothing wrong.

The code of silence among the police is strong. It was shown on TV, with hidden camera's, how cops where caught doing things wrong in traffic, like drunk driving. When found he was a fellow cop, he was let go. One cop told the other, he did not like to let the man go, the other cop said; you know what will happen to us if we don't let him go eh? Yep!

A lot of people knowning the true story will agree with you Dru. The sad part is how many people have lost faith in the guys in blue, who are supposed to protect us.

RicoWest: Sounds like typical LAPD policy.
I assume it is the same no matter what country you come from. My brother was with the police in Holland. He worked a lot on the rivers and canals. Many stories to tell.
