Just wondering...what do you all think of the new budget? Apparently there is a tax exemption for Homeowners who renovate - hmmm....so this benefits tax payers who rent their homes how? The PC government pulled something like this in Saskatchewan in the 80's - rather, they provided cash rebates for home improvements to the home owners - things like window blinds and dishwashers were included - you know the necessities! teddybear JMHO - but do hear may be things in this "historical" budget that will be appreciated by all - we shall see grin

I have not heard of this, but when you rent have to get the landlords permission to do anything. My daughter wanted to put a hook lach on the door and the landlord said no and if we do we will be evicted.

Yes, the same goes for pretty well most renters, unless other arrangements have been agreed to - except the eviction thing, pretty sure that would not be grounds for eviction - but confused . I was being somewhat sarcastic innocent (there's s surprise)about the new Federal Budget and commented on one particular piece of it....grin

I am not yet aware of all the details of this exemption - but to be quite honest about it I'm not planning on spending any more money on the house now than what I was before this was announced.

Not that I'm skeptical of the government or anything...

I do know of some who are looking to spend a pile more money than they otherwise would have - JMO - not convinced this is a wise move. What happens if you get caught up somewhere and miss a deadline or don't qualify - then you're out extra money.

Good point! I just believe that there are several other more pressing issues in our society that would better utilize tax payers dollars other than home renovations. JMO! Not everyone owns their home and they pay enormous amounts of rent...perhaps tax deductions for rent payers are in order as well? Not that I am critical of the government or anything...grin handshake
