I am not fond of webcams, they sort of have a seedy undertone to me.

I think I would say, give this a wide berth, different though when giving advice to somebody else.

Come on, do not fret, if you like him, then go again, if you are fretting about it, then it is not right is it?
Oh yes, it is always different when a person gives another advice.
If it is meant for you, it will not go by you.
I often go by that theory and if you have reservations yet cannot ask him, then I would feel that it was a bad start.
But, bad starts can turn themselves around, I often see it that way.
So, why not ask him if you are concerned.
See what he says, if you are not satisfied with the answer then you know it is not right.

No of course not, why would he, he maintains that he wants to see me again, after our meeting, and I believe that, but for one reason only. Jeeze, when somebody tries to snog you after 10 minutes alarm bells ring no?
It´s not what I want, it´s a waste of time, however nice it may be, and he does seem like a nice man in many ways, so bye bye.

Webcams are not the issue but rather the motive, and the handy thing is you can disconnect USB with an outward motion.
At times I work on the internet, and for a while friends have been hitting on me to get a webcam, and although not hooked on them, they do have a benefit of allowing you to see the other person thus fulfilling their function.
Dating on cam (not done it but why should anything be wrong with it) is perhaps more a question of personal discernment, and at least you get the opportunity of reading the body language, rather than just using instincts on an email filled with a bunch of paragraphs.
Rather than being a luddite to these things - armed with a degree of applied application, you could perhaps discern more quickly the individual and their intentions. Yes seeing can also be believing.

I have a webcam stuck on top of my monitor....the software wasn't plug and play, and I honestly couldn't be bothered trying to connect it...anybody want a webcam??....lol

As for getting his rocks off over a cam, then no, I am with you there, it would have to be a no for me. I like the phone and a real man, that I can smell and touch, not a dodgy connection and some panting over a small round thing that glares at you and sends distorted pictures back of a person.
I once talked with my son on Skype with a camera, I looked at him and thought, 'you look strange'
And then I was hit with this thought, if my handsome son can look strange, then I at 40 with a few lines and wrinkles would look bloody awful. So no, it is not for me.

So you meet a bloke (I assume it's a bloke) and for whatever reason there is no second date but 'he' wants to link up via web-cam...
And your gut instinct tells you 'he' probably wants to whack the salami on line....I would say your're probably right and right in telling 'him' to get lost....

Well although I'm new here I've been on dating sites for about 3 yrs now.... and I also give the cam obsessed a wide birth.
I do use my cam though.... for keeping in touch with kids and grandkids and also to check out the MAN at MY request (no hanky panky included
) because so many seem to fudge on their ages and no one likes being deceived by an exaggeration now do they.
My take on it all is; if it feels dubious and your brow crinkles and you're doing this :confused....you are probably right.
