My daughter wanted to go back to the Mormon Church as we went there when she was a child. We have not gone for 6 years, but the missionaries came by the house and now we are taking the lessons again. They say they are the only true church on the face of the earth as they only hold all the priesthood blessings.
They do believe in Jesus and that he is our salvation. Is that enough or do they really lead us astray.
I need to know seriously what people think why they are not the true church as I have to make a decision if I really want to go back.
The thing is they are very family orientated and offer alot of good things, but is that enought. I have never been to the temple although I had been told I should prepare myself to go.

Most religions claim that their way is the only true way. So it's pretty much more about how you feel inside in your soul & heart. I, myself, am not a relgious person, but that is me. If you ask a Protestant, their church is the only true church, if you ask a Baptist, their church is the only true church, if you ask an Atheist, there is no true church.
It's all in the eye of the beholder. Every faction regardless of what god, spirit or practice they believe or don't believe, think that their way is the only true way.
It is up for you to decide what keeps your soul & heart at ease to decide is the true path to follow.

The answer is only in your heart.
I dated a Mormon...there are many misconceptions about the religion.
When you do go to the temple, it is a half day event. Maybe you should see what it is like and then make up your mind?

Kitty, When it comes to something as personal as your choice of church or religion that has to come from you and where you feel comfortable. Do not rely on answers from us as we are not in your situation. Good luck on whatever you choose, but let it be your decision, not ours, not your daughters.(JMO)
kitty01: I know I thought of that but there some people on here with alot of knowledge and just wanted to know what is wrong with the church.
I wish I could offer advice, but I really haven't much knowledge of this denomination... IMO, the only honest answer you really should listen to...is from your heart...only YOU really know what you want to do...
As there are so many anti-religion people on this board, this is probably not the best place to get an honest answer.
For me, while not religious now, I do have an understanding of many. I would not consider Mormon theology to mainstream by any stretch of the imagination and most attending protestant or catholic church would consider their doctrine to be heretical.

If it feels right to you Kitty, go for it. There are many different paths to God. However, when someone says they are the only true religion, alarms go off in my head. I was raised a Jehovah's Witnesses, no longer am. That is what they say also, they are the only true religion. However, I have seen people with pure hearts from all religions. I have also seen bad people from all religions. You have to find the religion that speaks to your heart for it to mean anything to you. May you find God in your search. He is not out of reach to any of us!

See how you feel about it. Are you comfortable with this? Something inside you will give you ideas about what you want. If you feel like you are forcing yourself then you might re-think it. Something that 'resonates' feels really right to yourself. You'll know.
Well, Kitty I agree that they are very nice people(most anyways) I had a few of them coming to my house for a couple of months, I would talk to them and ask them questions, but they couldn't give me any anwsers they made sense anyways. I found them to be more like brain washed honestly..It seemed a little "cult like" to me, it kinda reminded me of the Catholic Church, as far as how they picked their leaders.... Like they treat it as though it is a business(once you've done this or that then you are intitled for this position or that one...I have a cousin, a neighbor, and another friend that all go to this big Penecostal church, and like once you get so many members signed up and going to the church, then you can be what they call, a "cell leader" where you can then preach to your own group, What I notice most of those people have in common is: They've never really had any friends, and they are not that intelligent, with very little common sense, and I personally beleive, they go there, because it makes them feel needed and important because they are able to have a title or have people listen to them... Don't get me wrong, they are great people and very kind hearted(the people I know) but extremely niave in my opinion..
Myself, I like Charles Stanley, Old Billy Graham, and Michael Yusseoff....
another Guy I don't trust is that Joel Osteen fella, he seems more like a councilor then a preacher...
JMO.. But You have to make the decision for yourself hun, with what and how you beleive.....

Thank you for your answer, that is what I wanted just people telling me what they think. As if I ask any of the other churches they say they are wrong if I ask the Mormons they are right. I am mixed up as I do not know what I want to do, that is why I needed to hear what others think so that I can make the decision.

being a follower of what others think, isn't going to help you hun.. The question that you are asking, is like asking someone else, if they think you should be hungry or thirsty.. You have to make your decisions...JMO

Kitty, I don't believe there is any one true religion, more or less one true church, as to me all are but part of the Truth. Nobody else can answer this for you...you have to follow what feels true to you, in your heart and soul. The fact that you are questioning it, and putting your question on here seeking an answer, tells me that it doesn't feel true to you. Seek what does, and when you find it, you will know it in your heart.
