I don't put much credence into those words on dating sites but do if I have been with a gentleman for an extended period of time.
I cringe when I see people in forums state "I love you all" or "I love all of you people" which is a downright lie.

snugglysenior: Have you seen the commercial where the woman says she got a better deal on the cell phone account. Her husband says something to the affect that they've been married for 11 years and what they had all those years was good enough. She tells him how much money they are saving now and he says "I love you and this time I mean it". The commercial is meant to be funny but I was wondering how much weight you put into it when a man or woman says "I love you" to you.

I think 'some' people do say it for effect - usually if somebody tries that one on with me, especially if they are just trying for some hanky panky, I just tell em to try again when they have really thought about it
when they have seen me on a grouchy monday morning, or been for a walk in shoes that hurt sort of thing...... if they still feel that way then ok
