Barbie is fifty nine this month...yep she is looking good.

I wonder how old Ken is?

Where you an action man, Ken, Barbie or Cindy child?

What was your fav childhood toy, game?

Did you keep any off your childhood toys such as a train set that

might now bag you a fortune if you were to sell it?

Should have guessed it would have something to do with football...

In the states my son has a fuzz ball table ...huge thing

plonked right in the middle of the living room by the patio

doors leading to the pool drives me mad...they run in wet shorts

play and leave puddles everywhere...

Fav sweet as a child?

It amazes me that there are so many toys around nowadays - ok, Im from a pretty average working class northern family and now on the wrong side of 50 but I used to play with a hand me down doll from my big sister - and then my little sister had her after me laugh

I bet that doll was loved though more than most today...

I had a doll called Walking Talking Sally...(the walkie talking dolls)

I got her for Christmas I thought I had been given the crown jewels..

She had little plastic record like discs that went in her back

to make her say one line things that kids would laugh at now and

with batteries she walked like a Russian soldier....

She was loved and cherished for years...

Oh she was dearly loved for sure and though three of us played with her she always kept her own name, Belinda laugh

We had a teddy bear too - he was Growler - our big brother shared him as well grin

I have an old Samsonite suitcase full of leggos. I meant I have not lost one piece, when my Mom was throwing stuff away I asked for them and she gave them to me. I have been holding on to "those" leggos for forever. When I feel down I spread them out on the bedroom floor and build all kinds of stuff.

The good thing about leggos is that yu can add on to them.

trish123: On the subject of sweets I have an amazing memory of a little shop run by two little old ladies, it was in an old cottage on a dirt track road and had wooden shelves lined with jars of sweets and on the counter was a big box with sections of things which were four for a penny, two for a penny or one for a penny - my favourites were blackjacks (4 for a penny) or the little bars of Dairy Milk which cost a whole penny or rainbow drops which were puffed rice coloured and sweetened and they would be weighed and put into a cone shaped paper bag, a process which I remember watching with wonder

I liked anisees balls and mint imperials too but gobstoppers were a wonder - my earliest memories of gobstoppers were that they changed colour just at the heart but then they invented ones that were multicoloured all through - a thing of wonderment to a child

Our mum used to work in the Swizzles Sweets factory and while she did, there was always a big old fashioned mixing bowl of sweets to make a choice from if we had been good....

I think Bodeling will remember the old toffee shop I mentioned too as it was sort of on the border between where we both grew up......

Nice, thanks for reminding me Tamarin...........

I do remember it Trish, it was on Sanfold Lane, sadly
a housing estate now.
Its funny how certain smells can take you back many years.
I still get visions of that place if I walk into a sweet
shop.laugh

Id forgotten the name of the lane, thanks Gra - I remember long hot summers days on that dusty lane, past the fishing place and the bo-bo sheds, with a bottle of water between about 6 of us - we actually used to play out in those days grin

I grew up in the country, so mostly my favorite "toys" were the apple trees I climbed and the things I did. I was also a tomboy, so I played "cowboys and indians" and soldiers with the boys next door.

I had a favorite board game..."To Grandmother's House We Go"...can't find it anymore. And I had a stuffed panda bear that I slept with every night. My mom got it for me when I was a baby and put it in my crib, and I slept with Randa until I left for boot camp at 17. I still have him.

Favorite candy? Anything chocolate. I didn't really have a favorite, and still don't...though I also love those chewy carmels with the cream center and maple candy.

Good thread, Tam. wine

Good Morning Druwave

Funny how a soft stuffed toy animal can mean so much...

One of my kids had a little elephant called Ellie and it is still sneeked in the going away bag when nobody is looking...

I also remember stood very heavily pregnant at 5am outside a well known toy store for that magic ticket to purchase a Telly Tubby for my eldest....laugh
