As for home brew beer that was fairly big in the mid-eighties but it never caught on as beer is just too cheap, it's even cheaper now and the worst beer that you buy in Lidl will taste better than the stuff you make yourself.

i made some fantastic stuff and some homebrewers are the best youll ever taste
people used to offer me money serious money for another batch to take home but it was just my excusse for a party

If people really offered you money than you must have had a talent for it and should think about doing it on a serious basis. There are micro-breweries springing up, including here in Galway but I've tried the beer there and it's just not good, sad but there you are.
