Hi everyone, What are your views on hunting wild animals from Deer that are causing damage to property to cute little Rabbits and Hares.

Personally I think fox hunting is cruel but culling Deer for food is ok.

some people see them as vermin, but they help keep the rat and mouse population down

I think this is a brave thread, Catibrae hug

And well.. some might could come to argue humans are the greatest vermins about, no other creature on this planet causes as much distruction uh oh but humans tend to be speciests so they see their own as 'different' and apparently due to that allowed to almost do whatever (unless it concerns other humans).

I am against hunting for sport/'fun', and if culling numbers is needed, I believe it should be done with the greatest respect and care. I believe in 'do not do unto another what you'd not wish done unto you', so if there would be a justified reason to kill me, I'd want them to kill me with as little fear and pain involved from my side as possible, so - I believe in granting the same to other beings too. Just seems logical and fair to me.

Catibrae: Being a bow hunter, a good clean kill can be achieved, so why not use a bow instead of a Fire Arm?

A bow?! confused A gun is a lot less hassle to be fair and probably a quicker, cleaner kill. I know which one I'd sooner die by anyway!

I've hunted on a few occasions, for rabbits. They never knew what hit 'em and the rabbits were used for food after!

Think people suffer from a dis-connect these days, they reckon meat magically comes prepared in wrapping for their convenience frustrated

I agree with you, as long as the animal is used for the pot (as someone posted ealier) then i have no problem with the hunting/culling. I am an animal lover and I would hate to see animal in distress. But some people do miss the kill with a firearm as well as a bow.
