Well lads (and lassies, hopefully), it's that time of year again applause

I'm not sure how this will progress as all my old compatriots seem to have jumped ship, but we'll give it a go.....

First question of the year:
What are your thoughts on the "black card"?

I haven't liked the concept of it from the outset and I didn't see anything this weekend to change my mind. Once again, in my mind, it's all coming down to the refs interpretation of it. I just can't understand why the GAA continually insist on complicating things. A foul is a foul is a foul....get your refs all singing from the same hymn sheet and it's pretty easy.

Ask me again in a few weeks laugh

Following on from last year, I have to say that Dublin are going to be the team to beat for the next few years. I really, really hope that Kildare finally get their act together and make some kind of a show!! I don't see them as All Ireland winners, but I'd love to see them at least make a serious effort this year.

I'm still a novice where hurling is concerned but it'll be interesting to see how Clare build on last years success

Hi Glen,

Great to have another year of GAA approaching fast.

In the football Dublin are the team to beat and are deserved favourites for League, leinster and All Ireland. I am sure there will be competitive games against them, and we might know more about which teams could have a chance of upsetting the odds by the end of the league.

Hurling is wide open this year, with Clare, Cork, Dublin, Tipp and Galway all believing they are in with a chance. But beware of a backlash from the cats, They still have some of the best hurlers ever to play the game and will want to reinstate themselves as top of the heap.

Kildare are playing a nice brand of football as usual, for once we have scoring forwards but are leaking too much in defence at the moment. Not sure if this can be rectified, but I hope we can post a realistic challenge to some of the stronger teams.

If any of the old crew are around or anyone with an interest in our national games,I look forward to exchanging views and a bit of occasional banter. thumbs up

Aren't you a gorgeous little thing kiss

Sadly I won't be chasing after you though. A vegetarian is bad for my business so I couldn't love you.
