US? Bad example. US have a different culture. THe example I always bring up is China. China + Opium. Wasn't it 1 in 3 adult males got addicted to Opium because it was cheap and available thanks to the British. In my estimation, Irish people culturally are not far behind the Chinese: Love self medicating with booze, and drugs.

I think the US culture of the early 20th century more closely resembles Irish culture than Chinese culture during the opium wars. And yes, you are correct it was the British who forced them to take the opium, hence Opium wars. That's where the HSBC bank came from. It was the vehicle whereby the British get the opium money back from Hong Kong.

Seriously though, how many people do you know who are not today taking drugs will run out and buy them because they are decriminalised? I don't know anyone myself.

I hear women can go out and buy trousers too. That's awful. There ought to be a law. I mean, society will crumble if woman are allowed to wear the pants. Every woman you see will be wearing pants laugh

Good night folks wave

Affluence caused the spread of drugs???? Yeah them 13 year old girls in Ballymun and Dolphin's Barn flats had far too much money to spend laugh

So you're saying the solution to the drug gangs it to have a totalitarian state like the Chinese Communists? Yeah, that's one solution uh oh

If you study addiction it runs in families and communities because junkies who need to support their habit get other addicted on purpose. Ask any junkie. They all go their first turn on off a 'friend' or relative. Cut the market and you cut the spread of addiction. Stop criminalising people who are addicts and most of them will spontanaeously rehabilitate. That was the experience in the Liverpool and Zuirich experiments, until the State ended them for political reasons.

I don't take any drugs but if people are out tonight taking drugs in the local pub it is none of my business. The drug dealers are there by popular demand to supply their vodka or Guinness and that's their business, not mine. I think the problem is people just can't mind their own business.

Yes, it was the Jews who were behind shipping tons of opium into China. David Sassoon was a devout Jew who only employed Jews in his 'business'. How interesting that their bank, HSBC, is in the news again for laundering drug money. I guess some je... leopards never change their spots..
