Yes, would be the short answer, although the signs are there beforehand if you are prepared to see them.

I think its funny how men who claim they will never marry are obsessed with it

A person would think its all to find someone to blame other than their good self, obviously that they cant fit into something they think they should so find excuses for their rebellion, ye know to excuse the fact they cant actually get anyone to marry them in the first place

Seriously dont you get sick of carrying around all that anger, frustration and feeling of failure you demonstrate here day after day after day??

oh and i dont need a reply btw..i know the answerwink

applause thumbs up

The cynics are usually the ones who have been burnt at some stage - and you can understand that. Both women and men have been burnt. However, it's also because you chose the wrong person to begin with, and that is your own fault. Seek first to know thineself, then your choices will be smarter....

That's so very true but women seldom speak so honestly about their game. It's often said here that men who speak out about the 'game' are bitter because of past experiences in the 'game'. Well, perhaps that is true and what better teacher is there than experience? I would say that having seen behind the mask of marriage makes one wiser and more authoratative when speaking about.

Perfectly put fifi....bitterness is an ugly trait, destructive of the person.

Aw, how can you not be a fan of marriage? Not being a fan of overly extravagant, mostly kitsch, weddings is understandable but marriage doesn't require that. wink

I am often amused by the attitudes of some of those who are against marriage and all that it stands for. They cite the huge expense of the day whilst spending the rest of their lives 'celebrating' various religious sacraments made by their children Kylie, Ryan and Jack. Marquees are rented for communions at which Kylie is dressed like a little bride, pubs for christenings, all night piss ups for confirmation, a Hummer to bring them to their Debs...

You're confusing your terms. A wedding is the ceremony that creates a marriage. It can be done in a registry office or Westminster Cathedral. The marriage is the union formed by the wedding ceremony.

The basic requirements for a marriage in the eyes of the State are the same in all circumstance, regarless of the chosen ceremony; a man and woman who freely and with mental competence enter into a lifelong bond with the intent of having children.

i believe marriage to be an out of date concept, and if im no mistaken, if ye live with someone long enough in monogamous relationship the state would treat ye as married anyhow. im nay sure about regarding assets if/ when ye split?

common law marriage what im thinkin of, that apply here? i get the gist of it or no?

Er, no it's not. You said

Glatlol: Thats a wedding not marraige. All you need to get married are the bride, groom and 2 witnesses.

That's completely wrong. The wedding is the act of getting married, no matter where it takes place. You apparently still don't get that.

Since you are a big banking exec let me put it in business terms for you. Getting married, the wedding, is like signing a charter or contract to incorporate a company. You can do that in a solicitors office with a ton of lawyers or you can do it in a cafe on a plywood table with just two witnesses. Eiter way it is ratified in the companies office, by the State, to make it legally binding. This is like the wedding ceremony - done in a church or registry office it is when it is registered with the State that it becomes a legally binding contract.

The business or corporation is like the marriage, not the wedding or incorporation charter.

I can use a simple analogy if the business one is too complicated for you. laugh
