WadeWilson: any one else have the joys of paying them?

Well worth a good discussion! Where are all the forum users gone?

Don't have to pay them myself Wade, but have had many friends tell me all about management fees...
It seems fees have being rising over the years despite the lower property values..one guy I know is paying over 1.5% of the value of his property per annum in management charges. I would have thought that you can get tradesmen, painters, garden maintenance and other services etc. for a more competitive price than in the celtic tiger years and therefore management fees should have reduced.
What is your experience Wade?

Have they been increasing since 2008 or not?

Do u think it is good value for what u are getting?

I'm sure fees can vary depending what services are on site.
Some schemes I have seen are terraced duplexes and would not have lifts for example. I doubt if u have any major garden areas to maintain if u are in the city centre.

it goes up and down
this year is up
in fairness the place is well kept
and i prob do get value from it but it a shame at the cost
i see new housing estates are paying them too

it is a bit of a joke,.

is there any way to change management company or how long is the present companys contract??

personally i dont think id buy an apartment where the management isnt a yearly tendered open contract, makes more sense to get value for money and put it there to be changed if not happy with price or service.
