Anyone any alternatives to the aul sangwiches again for lunch? I'm blaming them for me piling on the pounds. The job requires me sitting on my back-side for most of the day and lunch time is usually a case of grab a sambo. Something that's quick, light and yet filling.

This time of the year I tend to eat salads more. Not just the lettuce and tomato variety, but some with flavour and variety

Cous Cous, sweet potato, tuna and sweetcorn, spicy butter beans, beetroot, olives etc

If you don't want to prepare them yourself, go to Tesco and buy a selection, then mix and match, and use them over a few days.

Molly's salads are a nice alternative, also I tend to try and maintain variety for lunchtime.

Pop into Tesco every so often and pick up a Pork Pie or Scotch eggs, roast a few turkey wings or chicken drumsticks and have them crispy and cold the next day.

The humble sandwich can be revitalised through exploring different breads and rolls, Pitta or stone ground.

Sandwich fillings don't have to rely on ham, salad or cheese.

Crunchy, thinly sliced vegetable, chorizo, salami, onions, peppers and mustards, different cheeses, mayo and sauces, all brighten up the lunchtime sandwich experience. thumbs up

Something that's quick, light and yet filling.[/quote...well as your job requires you to sit down most of the day would you consider getting up abit earlier to take a ten minite walk each day.just move your body more and take your lunch outdoors just to get you moving, brown whole meal bread is good to eat just cut out the mayo, etc have it plain with salad, abit of fruit and low fat yogurt, fish is a good sort of protein and low in fat when grilled or baked and very tasty with jacket potatoe and quick to make for dinner in the evening, you don't need a rigorous workout at gym to keep the calories down and stay healthy,a little each day,I find swimming good and very relaxing even running up and down the stairs when busey with housework, lol.lots luck and remember its every little bit that counts you don't need to go from sitting down all day to a rigorous workout at gym that won't do your heart any good, whatever suits you lots luck.

appreciate the feed-back. (Bad pun intended) I'm going with the Tesco salads for tomorrow and Wednesday. After that I think I'll try the Sir Larry diet.

What sort of a sandwich are you eating? I'd say a sandwich would have between 200 and 400 calories. If you're putting on the pounds there's more than the sandwich... there's another 2,000 calories somewhere. conversing

Quarter carbs in general, cut out crap and move more :)

Worked for me have lost 2 stone and gone down 2 dress sizes.

Lunch is rice cakes or ryvita with goats cheese and cucumber or boiled egg with onion and beetroot.

Peanut butter on rice cakes make a great breakfast to.
