Interesting that Ebola is making the headlines now 'white people' are getting infected....7,500 cases, 3,500 deaths (rounded up to the nearest 50).....Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone....Im wondering, has this been just 'picked away at' until its at our own front door....

Unfortunately, that's the way this world is...if it's not at our own door we tend to ignore it. The WHO is the body that is mainly responsible in this case though. They have acted too slowly and questions have even arisen about the qualifications of the people on the payroll of the WHO. Some simply are bureaucratically elected by countries without the relevant experience to deal with/report on issues like these. Here's another statistic that will make you feel worse...

"Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five - 3.1 million children each year." sad flower

Yeah, they cannot leave it to poor, under-staffed, under-funded countries to deal with it themselves.
This will not just affect countries medicinally, but also economically.
The whole world will have to unite to contain this threat.

Its hard to tell Molly weather its media scare mongoring or bleak reality, but the word is that this outbreak is the being called the most significant medical / viral event since the emergence of HIV back in the midd 80s, and if im correct in saying, there is at present no know cure for this strain of the ebola virus, (im assuming virus's mutate over time in order to remain effective)...

The nurse in Madrid is improving. Maybe they can piece together information from the various cases on how to best deal with it.
