Hey guys..

Quick question.. Does anyone here have experience with jobsbridge. A good friend of mine was just offered a high end position on jobsbridge and is unsure whether it is worth taking or not.

Is anyone on the forums currently on this program or have experience on it?

Thanks in advance...

Richie

richie im not on jobbridge either but their is a few things to take into account before making any decision the jobbridge scheme usually the payement is around 50 euro extra on to the dole even though some people are qualified to degree and masters level i still think its wrong because they may have the theory experience but not the practical i still think the payement is an insult even though no practical but your experience every day by been on it is beneficial and a stepping stone for the next position best of luck on your decision mike

This good friend wouldn't happen to be yourself would it?
from what I hear jobsbridge is a scam..employers pretty much get cheap labour and you get a pat on the head..theres a good boy run along at the end of itireland

We had someone on Jobsbridge where I worked. She was qualified in the area, but had no experience.. she got part time hours with us but was offered a job very quickly somewhere else.

In my experience it was closely monitored as to what kind of work she was doing and what experience she was getting.. lots of form filling !

Hey there, Im a lil torn when it comes to jobsbridge, I think its a great program for people just out of school college, or people that are moving from into a completely new career most of these people have the theory but no practical experience.
I believe some employers just use it as cheap labour, But other company's have a great rep for hiring into permanent roles or at the very least giving people the experience needed to fill that gap in their CV. He needs figure that out himself.

As you said its a high level position your 'friend' :)needs to ask the employer the right questions e.g what the chances of a full time position at the end of the program, he can gauge from that if they are serious about this position.
It needs to be a two way thing, so he needs to look into drawing out a skills training plan with his employer, he needs to look at the position and see what every company expects from it and work towards it...If its a good employer they will have a good plan in place...but he needs to own it...
Sorry if that sounds like a bit of a rant but its a bit of a passion of mine lol sad as it seems:)

No Worries, but just remember its a placement not a job, that's why you need to ask all the relevant questions..

You are working a 40hr week for 50 euro, so even tho yes you are working for them, they owe it to you to give you the experience you need...
Just remember at the end of the 9 months, either you will have a job, or you will have a very strong CV with experience in a high level role with a reputable company, beats sitting on your behind with nothing to gain at the end of the day...

Ok I better sign off this before I start ranting again...best of luck with your decision thumbs up

Anyone who has been out of the workforce for a while for whatever reason - illness, raising children, unemployment - knows, returning to work can be very daunting. . Although the Jobsbridge scheme just about pays your expenses, it can be invaluable to get people into - or back into - the workforce. As others have said, it has to beat sitting on your backside doing nothing ! Remember too, you CAN leave the scheme if a better opportunity comes your way !

While I was doing my job as care assistant for elderly at day care centre which involved in the centre and also care assistant on the amb ,bus during the five years I was there I got wages each week for the 19 and half hours I was working there,

I loved my job ,loved the people that's why I went for an interview for it ,but I have to say I wouldn't have worked for 50 euro a week even on top of my benifits,

It was very rewarding work but alot work involved,

I received my fetec qualification in health care for the elderly and a new nursing home is opening in my town not far from my house so the experience I had working with the elderly plus my qualification will be very helpful when I go for interview to work with the elderly what I'm qualified now to do with experience also,

Good luck to you un chosen I think under the circumstances in our country at moment I would give it a try,,look on it as a stepping stone, you get everything you can from it,experience and ask questions.
