What do Men Look for in Women's Profiles (82)

Ya know, Id say theres a lot of lurking and wishfull thinking going on , a lot of blokes (and probably women too) looking for miss right and ending up with miss right-now....CS is (or should i say, was) a mighty bit of fun, and people found people, but if im honest, unless your very lucky, its all transitory....
If you set yourself unrealistic targets, be assured, you wont be disappointed, and there are way too many things on this site (and others) that dont lend to full time success, such is the nature of free dating sites, a general lack of investment....just my pov you understand, and though it may seem damning, id say many would agree even if not in public....

In theory there's no reason why this shouldn't work very well in terms of meeting like minded people. .. I wonder what has gone wrong in the mix...?

We look for occupation, and any signs of money and material wealth. Like newly divorcees etc that type of thing... who are easy prey for a bit of manipulation.
Then we look to age, poundage and teeth for sounds of scurvy. And if all is well, then a mail might be sent.

Id say we need to go right back to the origins of dating, back in the days when there were 'tea dances' and 'jive halls', when people were in the same physical space as one another...
Ok, sometimes (and i remember too well), it would mean going way outside of your comfort zone (night clubs and fat boys are not a good mix), but the 'glance' across a crowded room the first words (courage permitting) and that first 'drink' had infinatly more impact than free internet dating (now, this is just my opinion, and can be taken with a pinch of salt)....
Behind the screen we are immune from rejection, sure, we dont know whats on the other side, is the profile info true and up to date, will the reality match the presented self?....

Anybody I know that has been on both paid and free sites, says this is as good as any paid one.
Maybe people who are really serious about meeting someone should join a real dating agency.
Where real people meet you, ask you questions, find out about the real you, and then match you up with suitable people from their books.

Back in the auld days of the 90s when you went to a disco there was a finite number of people and maybe just one that you would fancy. You had make an effort that required courage and bravery within a short time window if you wanted to succeed and rejection was a killer. That's when men who lived on one side of the road ended up marrying women who lived on the other side of the road.
The whole online thing is millions of people (most of whom like going to the cinema) so there is a swarm of sameness. Technology takes away the effort and the opportunity for people to be individual. So if you get refused by one it's not a big deal as there are millions more (like telephone poles passing you by on the road). Apathy takes over and the end result is that you remain alone.
