peachmelba: Aah yes ill ask them thanks stan,

My oil burner is broke eroded .

I have radiators for oil but would love to change to a big stove fire with the rods to heat up whole house,

The stove fire in my sitting room is average size and that alone gives out great heat that can be felt in the hall and bit in kitcen too .

So with another stove fire in the kitcen my house be well warmed upstairs too.

Probalaly be costly but be well worth it,

Must check my lotto numbers.

Lol.

stay safe on the roof.

It might be an idea to consider changing the stove in sitting room to one with a boiler that would heat the radiators. You could trade in the old stove and sell your oil boiler and tank to offset the cost of new stove and fitting. Check out buy and sell, or Stanley's in Tullow, {No Relation} it might not cost as much as you think.

Yeah, have to agree, the hardest most obstinate timber will bend a little, and even the greenest oak could never become as warped and twisted as some of them. laugh

Yes that's a good idea ,,think I paid about 485 euro for my stove fire and then had old fire cemented up and safty brick at the back of stove fire ,,hole at the back for outlet for smoke to go up the chimney ,,granite slab for hearth ,,all together was well over a thousand euro but well worth it.

Just sorry I didnt get the larger stove with the long shoot built in to heat rods.

Still it's food for thought for next winter to change .

From stove fire lover.

Oh about wood ,

A fine oak likes to breathe,

It's lasting and can weather a storm,

Not like soft pine,

Ahh yes I've yet to meet a bloke that can compare to an oak.

@ peach

re your fire - I am not sure if I am reading your question correctly;

I have fitted a stove to a gable end wall, no chimney present, with an external flue fitted, no problems. You may need at worst a lintel fitted if the ope is going to be large, but if it's just enough for an external flue to be fitted, you should have no need. The external flues are expensive enough, but work a treat.

The only consideration if getting a boiler-stove is to ensure reasonable access to plumb into your boiler so the rads will heat - mine is too far away and would have resulted in digging up of floors etc, so mine is non-boiler.

Is the stove in your sitting room close to the hot press? As Stan said, perhaps replace this one with a boiler-stove and leave the other as non-boiler? It would be more economical and easier to link into your rads.

Best of luck - best money I ever spent was fitting a stove. Lovely and cosy in winter, and works like a bomb.
