I know the one singing there personally, so I thought I post this to give him and his brothers some extra support. New and upcoming these lads are, so if you like it, would be grand to give them a thumbs up on youtube, but also a like on facebook and to maybe distribute the song via facebook too, obviously only if you indeed do like their music smile

@ peach

The band consists of 3 brothers and they got one drummer who isn't family. Those lads are really young still, the singer is only 16! The band was called Children Of The Son but they renamed to The Matthews, which is their family name. They write their own music, and yes, extremely talented. It's a tough industry, and for boys their age it is not easy, but they seem to have good heads on their shoulders and are very mature, the singer definitely is.

Here are some pics, if you can load the link

If they are indeed innocent, then this is deeply tragic, same as ANY case where someone has ended convicted while innocent is deeply tragic, and then we of course also have Guantanamo Bay, where inmates have not even been trialed, but seem to have been subject to torture even (waterboarding IS torture).

To you though this isn't really about wrong convictions and human rights violation overall, is it Phoenix.. but just your personal political agenda... comfort

What about what is happening to Irish men in British prisons?. You don't have to look at Guantanmo.. Human rights abuses are happening at home..

If you look at the Craigavon 2 case , you'll soon discover they are innocent...

Check it out.

It sounds like a not so good, pub band's version of an eighties rock ballad. Maybe you could give them a few writing tips. thumbs up

Phoenix: Wade the thread is about supporting a few Irish lads and John Paul Wootton, Brendan McConville, are two 'Irish lads' who need support. Their human rights are being abused.

Go for it...

so what your saying is you be posting similar things in the rugby thread
as thats asking us to support a group of men too
but i guess you wont have the guts to do that

can you show us evidence they're innocent?...the courts in NI must have had good enough evidence to send them down republican or not..I know the psni will hold republicans for weeks and months on end without much evidence just suspicion just like what they did to that duffy lad from lurganireland

I did check it out, and from what I can find, I can not call whether the ones arrested for it are innocent or not. All I can find it statings of a miscarriage of justice, but these claims could just be motivated by political sympathies. Impossible to tell without having proper access to the evidence that was brought forward and ways to check all the claims made by the opposition.
However, the widow of that police officer seems to be relieved the appeal was not granted, and as the one most directly affected by the murder of her husband, I would think she would want the true murderers to be punished. If she would be in doubt, I'd imagine she herself would be campaigning to find the true culprit, alas it appears at least from the bit of research I did, that she is content with believing the right men were caught.

You have stated in the past, Phoenix, that political violence is justifiable, and while I agree with that when it for example comes to regimes like the Third Reich or Stalin, I still only believe it is viable to attack the head of the snake, not usually people on the ground, and in the case of Northern Ireland, I full stop see no reason in present times to resort to violence. People in Northern Ireland are no more or less oppressed than anyone else living in the rest of Ireland. There are plenty of causes right now in this world for someone to get active where people indeed are suffering from cruel dictatorships, but this is definitely not one in my view.

He asked me who their group reminds me of, and I told him Meat Loaf, but ty no ty in regards to writing and composing, I said no to that career already 3 decades ago laugh plus I personally feel the boys are doing a marvelous job as is, and Jack has an amazing voice. I believe they got what it takes and they were already invited over to LA to record, but they are very very young and it is a tough industry. I wish them only the very best, also as Jack is an amazingly lovely lad who is fantastic fun to hang out with thumbs up

luke105: Iam a music producer an owner of a small studio in Kerry!!

Thank you heaps on behalf of the lads, luke, every bit of encouragement is much appreciated by them, and yes, I too think they could lift off big time with the right people in the industry backing them. Unfortunately my dad passed away, else I know he would have been able to get them into the correct hands. I grew up in the industry but refused a career in it as the whole idea of fame freaked me out, so I have no contacts due to that, and I am worried for the boys as there are lots of sharks swimming in that sea. They already managed to avoid one majorly bad contract, which shows at least the lads are switched on and very level headed, and they need to be, being this young and without experience on the business side of things. They are just fantastic musicians, very passionate and with great work ethics in regards to their music.

Lets hope it will go well for them, they have what it takes, just need luck now in finding the right producer thumbs up
