Interesting question - I have inadvertently spoken with a few married men (they only disclosed this further on in conversation) and for the most part, they were not looking to meet, they were lonely and obviously their relationship was in trouble.
I don't condone nor support cheaters; but sometimes people just want to be seen or heard, for their own reasons.
The dogs are very quick to reveal themselves, and those I just block.
It's not up to us to judge others' needs or reasons. We are only responsible for our own behaviour towards others.

Agreed re cheaters - it's a horrible word, and a horrible thing.
Cheaters think they're clever, getting "one over" the partner they're cheating on. If the partner had any sense and knew about it, they'd kick the cheaters out on their ear, if only out of self respect for themselves. If he/she cheats once.... ahem.
If they don't know about the cheating, then only the cheater can answer what it is that drives him/her to do it.
Personally, I think they're cowards - if you're not happy, call it a day, and move on.

fair comment,, would they not be better off going to have some councelling, is a dating site the place to come, if they have relationship problems,, and how could it help.

From the messages I have had the age bracket for this "chatting" category is quite high. At least sites like these keep them out of the night clubs and will save generations of teenagers from being traumatised

Yep, and thats covered by the "in a relationship" thingy as well. I do find it good if they are at least honest about it, however I wouldn't want to chat with them. I think its mainly posters who have the "not single/not looking" on their profile?
At least some have the honesty to put the truth on their profile whether that's not single or looking for NSA. They're being honest and upfront, no pretence.

Not me that is jumping to conclusions,, a man who is not single/not looking, that is very clear to me, but still wants no strings fun. well that speaks for itself
