annaroach: Nearly got run into this morning by 2 male drivers overtaking, coming towards me, i had to swirve to avoid them, one after the other.
also this evening a man in a van was coming out of a side street and i had to break hard to avoid being hit by him, so much for male drivers being better.

Slow drivings as much a problem as fast
Driving it frustrates people on secondary
Roads, there should be penalty points
Dished out for being under a certain speed

All the close calls I've seen are idiots over
Taking driving miss daisies too late or on
Blind bends or idiots driving slowly in the
Two over taking lanes, the Naas roads a classic
People hogging the middle lane for the whole
Length of it, staring into space, it's for over taking

Jim_40: When my insurance was up for renewal, I didn't accept the quote straight away. Did a bit is shopping around and managed to get nearly €100 off my original quote from the same company. I think kneagh is right we need more competition to drive down prices.

Just a observation as well, the standard of driving in Ireland is brutal at times. Please be careful out there as well.

I have always shopped around, this year I was quoted the stupid price of 650 for 3rd party fire and theft by one company, (no points, no convictions, and more than 5 years no claims) on a 1.6L petrol car, ended up getting full comp from another company for 300, now that is some price difference.

Shop around folks, that will drive the prices down as well.

Too true JT, driving like an absolute lunatic, overtaking tractors on bends, and weaving in and out of lanes on the motorway is the surest way to avoid accidents.laugh

If people want to drive slowly along a country road they are entitled. Likewise farm machinery tends to move slowly along the roads. Or do you want everyone driving like lunatics along dangerous narrow bendy roads? rolling on the floor laughing

If cars in the overtaking lanes are moving faster than cars in the slow lanes, whilst keeping within or at the speed limit then the system works fine.

It is the lane weaving idiots that cause accidents on motorways. thumbs up

There's slow and there's slow! There is actually
Laws on driving to slowly but they're not enforced
Hence why you'll see signs at the start of motorways
Saying no vehicles under 80cc so slow driving
Is recognised as a problem......

And many drivers hogging the middle lane
Drive too slowly in it and are not overtaking
Anybody so they're breaking the law and forcing
Other drivers to weave in and out, st stan
Condoning law breaking! Tut tut, thug

Nobody is forced to weave in and out of lanes. They do it because they are idiots.

jt972: It's actually women drivers driving up prices
Aswell, a lot of accidents now are resulting
From women crashing whilst texting, an
Epidemic it has been called

Its women drivers full stop that cause accidents..Ireland should take a leaf out of saudi arabias book and ban women from driving..it would result in a lot less accidentsireland

Driving on the N7 or M50 or any motorway is dicey enough at times. The standard of driving is very poor at times. I tend to drive in the middle lane doing at least 95km provided I have the room to do so safely on the n7 & m50. It's the lack of awareness how to merge into these roads safely and get off. Never mind the idiots cutting across two lanes etc. The roads are grand but it's the lunatics that make it dangerous.

That's understandable, especially on the m50
At least your not holding anyone up at 95, it's the
Ones that cruise at 60 are the problem
