stanley8m: That is right JT. They are all violent savage Muslims like you said earlier.

Or you could take an open minded approach and look at marches or protests worldwide where human rights are being denied, and you will see it is perfectly normal for men to make up the front line where possible conflict might occur. Or would you prefer the men to stand back and push the women and children to the front.

It's not a protest or rally, look again fool
Of the tens of thousands walking across
Borders the majority are men

On the frontline they've been throwing
Bricks, bottles and attacking police
With weapons and are getting steadily
More aggressive

You're not condoning thuggery are you
Stab??

Poor dirmuid would find that very
HYPOCRITICAL !

But that's your speciality

snowlynx: When you talk about 'divide and rule' who do you mean exactly?

This tragedy is happening mainly because the regime in Syria will stop at nothing to keep power, even indiscriminately bombing its own citizens, making life hell for its people. Is this somehow supposed to be the fault of the West?

I am not dealing in lizards, I think humans are quite capable all on their own to display greed and power hunger. We know an extremely small minority holds most of the 'wealth' in this world, and their influence, I'd say, has to be measured according to this. You are that rich, you can buy more than Rolls Royces - you can buy loyalty and support for your ideas.
I don't want to rule the world, you probably don't either, but some out there have dreamt of in the past and sure some are dreaming of it now. It would be foolish to assume otherwise.

Fault of 'the West'?

And this is just looking at Syria. 'Proxy warfare' has been going on for far too long overall, but to the extreme in that region. If we say this is about human rights violations of these nations, then we should also involve Israel as well as the US, big time, not to mention we'd see different policies all over the world, including huge aid efforts to those who are suffering from these conflicts, alas we clearly do not see such.

This is about power and power related interests, not about democracy, oppression.. none of the latter matters to those who keep intervening, and by now one would also certainly think lessons have been learned. As no learning seems to be happening, and humans are treated with utter lack of empathy, I'd say one should begin to question the aims of all of this, as clearly.. it is not about human rights, and no plans have been put in place for this VERY foreseeable refugee crisis - but instead we are seeing conflicts now on borders, which beyond doubt will lead to creating more hatred and thus a possible war in the future, involving our own nations.

One of the Hostages, Pierre Piccinin, that was kept by the rebels overheard the captors talking about setting up the Chemical weapons attack. He was on Belgium TV afterwards telling the world about it. That was 2 years ago. Anyway there's been enough evidence collected now to show that the Rebels, sponsored by teh West, used Chemical weapons at every opportunity.

They must have learned it from the Brits.... they gassed the Kurds out there years ago... long before Hussein did.

And this in regards to American media...

I recall with the Iraq war some journalist afterwards saying they had been either silenced or been too afraid to speak up.

The media is very controlled, just look at the figures involved when it comes to buying - this is serious money, and we already know the major wealth of our nations is held by a very few, who tend to have their fingers/influence in almost all of these companies too.

There was no reason for the journalist to be afraid and there were plenty of people in America opposed to the war.

Yes of course they had nothing to fear. You should tell this David Kelly!
Ah what a shame you can't any more. He did not live past blowing the whistle...

Else what Stan has said in his last posts about refugees, including his reply to HC :)

Yes, I can see the pressure a seasoned weapons expert would crack under.. like.. (taking your view that it was suicide) - kill yourself or members of your family might have 'accidents'.

I wonder whether you also support that water boarding isn't torture and that Guantanamo Bay isn't a human rights violation, considering 'the West' seems to be incapable of doing any wrong in your eyes uh oh

I think they are human rights violations yes.
So many people have a knee-jerk anti-American view of the world, this has to be tackled.

I lived in the States, some of my dearest friends are American, and I am living here in Ireland together WITH an American. Don't think I can be considered 'anti-American' wink but I am more than just a bit suspicious of US foreign policies.. and looking back on the decades I have been watching this, I'd say unfortunately rather rightfully so...

Russian foreign policy is keeping the regime in Syria in place, nobody seems to criticise Russia!

I don't trust the Russian leadership either, nor the Chinese one, NOR European leaderships. Combined among them seems a great lack of care for human lives, and little foresight (if we shall assume they are just making mistakes.. which I personally don't). Children in Africa still starve and die of for us curable diseases, and now we have millions of people displaced, trying to find safety.
