Before the onslaught,, i know that there are a lot of people,
that would love to be employed.

I heard a comment on radio yesterday, which i thought was a good idea.
The person who rang in to a discussion that was going on,, they said
" sack all those who are on a very good wage and want more, and give us the jobs that they do , for the same money that they are getting at present"

What makes that person think for a second that they would be capable of doing top-end jobs?

Clare Daly has just said that those who paid the water charge can just get stuffed basically, people like her despise the large amount of law abiding folk in the country, to her they are just collateral damage along the way to the glorious socialist revolution, and most of the people who voted for her can't even see that.

The discussion was about the up coming strikes in Dublin, train drivers,
i'm sure that with good training ,,most people could do it!

I was one of the law abiding citizens that paid the water charge
I know i won't get it back , but so be it, nothing i can do about it.
I resent her statement though, it's like fingers up to all who paid

There are a lot among the unemployed , with top qualifications,
That could do top end jobs, without any bother.
I know quite a few!

jebus, where do i start with this one. we re currently dealing with some of the most ignorant politicians ive ever come across. 'whingers' and 'the recovery'! how ignorant can you get! id like to see what all the homeless people in all its formats, or those fighting their way through our public health service think of these 'marketing slogans'. we re in desperate need of a new type of politics with new young blood. ive come to the conclusion in all this that all our old school politicians are done. all relics, all carrying too much baggage. its time for them to step aside and allow the young folks to step in.

people are not whingers. enough is enough and the people have spoken, finally. theres something fundamentally going wrong in our society. id have to agree with eamonn dunphy here, society is broken and we cant keep going on like this. neoliberalism isnt working for the vast majority of people.

long term unemployment is caused from a set of very complex problems such as mental health problems, behavioral problems, leaning disabilities etc etc. we need to start addressing these issues first before 'forcing' these people back to work. our economic systems are also based on fundamentally flawed economic theories, i.e. neoliberalism and neoclassical theory but we re hell bent of perusing them. this will not end well for our species or this plant as these systems are pro wealth creation but anti human and anti environmental in nature. these systems have no intentions of sharing this wealth evenly.

i fully support the luas drivers and any other workers striking or are workers considering it. we have got to stand up and fight back against these issues or we re gonna end up in serious trouble.

I wouldn't support them, they're paid pretty well and they come out with this demand for a massive pay increase. Privitise it and let someone like Michael O'Leary run it, he'd take none of this nonsense.

you need to look at the bigger picture here. id highly recommend the work of economists such as ellen brown, bill black, ha-joon chang and michael hudson etc for the background to whats going on particularly in relation to neoliberalism(privatisation). its not what it seems and has the potential to collapse society globally if its not dealt with now. i personally think its the most serious thing facing humanity. the luas strike is a lot more complicated than you think.

Firstly, on your second line,, when you say "how ignorant can you get"
Who are you referring to?

You didn't understand the thread, i am talking about people ,(we all know them i'm sure) that have no intention of working if they can help it,
healthy young men and women, who have got comfortable in their lives of freedom, i have come across lots of them i am not kidding you, they think it is their right to get most things for free and not work at all.

There are the people that you speak about as well.
but i am not talking about them,, read the posts carefully!!

Our glorious leader Enda has rescued this country from the abyss, and he is determined to keep his wonderful recovery going. innocent

Those whingers up to their asses in debt and being taxed in every way possible don't know how good they have it, and should be thankful to the glorious leader.

And as for the homeless mob living the life of luxury in hotels, and the other crowd lazing around on hospital trolleys, they should shut up with their whining and whinging, and realize how lucky they are, that our glorious leader Enda is looking after their best interest.

apologies but im actually dyslexic so i have the tendency to miss read things. again id highly recommend looking into the true causes of long term unemployment. its a lot more complex than you think.

the ignorance is in relation to our current batch of politicians, particularly the old school politicians.

id highly recommend checking out the work of those ive mentioned earlier. neoclassical theory of economics is fundamentally flawed. it does not include human behaviour in fact it assumes all humans are rational beings. i.e. we have designed economic systems that does not include human behaviour, therefore humans are seen as the problem in these systems but the problem is with the systems. the economists ive mentioned explain this far better than i ever could. they all have plenty of stuff online including youtube. its heavy going stuff but extremely important for our progression as a species.

the people you are referring to are in those situations due to multiple system failures, i.e. failure in our educational system, failure in this that and the other thing. neoliberalism marginalises people. as michael hudson says, it has created a class war intentionally, and as you can see, its actually working. check out his work and you may find out what im getting to. i find it very difficult to discuss in text format.

I will give you that,, you make a lot of sense, a lot comes down to

a lack of education, and that is not going to change anytime soon, as generation after generation go through the same process, sounds hopeless doesn't it!!
