There are bus tours going, travel agencies offering single tours - there are enough possibilities if you look around.

Well I would be interested to go backpacking in Australia but that is not feasible my other option would be a working holiday for me crushing grapes in France or work partime in Amsterdam ,Madrid ,wow would love to go to Barcelona ,
Maybe next year who knows ,best of luck Maverick hope you go to a place where it takes your breathe away ,lol.

Apparently there are travel group sites. A friend of mine hooks up with them often and travels solo but with option to connect. Will ask him and get back to you...

People don't generally go on holidays with total strangers.
It could be a recipe for disaster.
The only way it can work is to go on a group holiday, where there are more people there.
Check out group tours like G Adventures if you want to go on one like that.
