My earliest memory of childhood is the smell of pink carbolic soap in nursery school at the age of four it had a prolific effect on me that gave me butterflies and sad feeling I just wanted to beat home, ahhhh

What are your memories of a specific smell that brings you back in time be it a pleasant or unpleasant memory .

Don't know the name of the bush but it has
Long straight Hollow branches with foam inside
And tiny bunches of purple berries

I smelled the leafs of that yesterday and went
Back decades, not even a nice smell.

Guinnesses in Thomas st reminds me of going
To croke park to watch Dublin play in the 70s

The salt and seaweed smell drifting in from the Irish sea on the approach to Courtown.

Childhood memories of swimming in the sea, building sand castles, wind breakers, fishing in the harbour, candy floss and fairground rides and a pleasant little country seaside town, sadly now somewhat ruined by development.

There is a strange kind of what I think is a burned diesel smell.
It comes off the Ice-cream vans, and reminds me of playing at my grannies house.

the strong smell of nettles.
