Yes it's a long way. I already had a hotel booked in Durham for the saturday night as it's the only English city i haven't yet been to, so it made good sense to go up to Glasgow for some fun on the friday & stop half way back on the saturday

If you look at the East Coast train website there are some bargains to be had. You need to check it either thursday or friday this week for the best deals

not sure how to travel yet am on holiday the week before so depending on what time I can get off whether it's training planes or automobiles

I'm ok for time off as not back to work until the monday night. The saturday night i have booked & paid for a hotel in Durham & luckily the main trainline from North / South stops in Durham. Think i should be able to get a ticket from Peterborough - Glasgow, Glasgow - Durham & Durham - Peterborough for about £40 all in off the east coast website so an awful lot cheaper than the petrol would be
