I am guessing it would be possible ... There have been people that only knew each other by being pen pals and then when they did meet in person, got married. This was before internet etc.
I have witnessed people chatting and getting closer. Some did not cross the line for various reasons, and others did.
My friend met her husband on Yahoo, (not a date site). They now have 2 little girls and are happy.
A few people on there have met their significant other on here.
"jmo" - but I do believe it to be possible to a point. When a couple is able to communicate and get to know one another without the distraction of the physical connection (or lack thereof)...they may come to value and respect each other as people and appreciate all that they have to offer. In my experience, very deep feelings existed before we were face to face...meeting and spending time together was the obvious next step that competed the process of falling in love.

The heart follows no rules ....... I personally think its totally possible and hopefully when the "reality" comes its just as wonderful.
If people can truly reveal and be themselves with another then there is no reason why it shouldn't happen. As with any relationship - there are real people involved, whether they sit across each other in a restaurant or sit across from each other via their computers sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings.
