Because of the work I am involved in, I am curious about how other people sort out feelings and thoughts. Some use a journal or writing, exercise or music.

I am curious to find out other forms people use. It would be a great idea to learn other methods so it can be used to help the people I work with. Not all of them are able or interested in using art, or feel secure enough to use this form of exploration.

If any of you would not mind posting other methods, it would be greatly appreciated.

(Sorry but self medication, drinking, something addictive is not what I have in mind.)

I lose myself in oil painting. It is one of the methods I use to clear my head. I also am teaching myself to play the guitar. But in the summer when I can get outside I metal detect, pan for gold and fish. I live by myself so I get lots of quiet time to reflect on what I have done in my life and what I would like to accomplish in the time I have left.

Walks, gardening, clean the house from top to bottom, (or the garage you have been meaning to do for a long time) or trying to resolve the situation by thinking it over, or spending time alone.

Drawing, painting and composing collages work wonders for me; always have...it allows for total expressions and emotions, positive or negative to get it all out, and in the end, quench a desire/ thirst to create.wine

I take a long ride on my motorcycle...there isn't any problem that can't be sorted out with a full tank of gas. It always comes down to the old saying...can I change it (probably not), can I accept it (maybe) and if I can't accept it or change it then I have to change how I feel about it. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Sorting it all out tends to take time and extra time seems to be a luxury. So, I tend to multitask - thinking things through when I am driving...shopping...showering and performing domestic drudgery! When I have the time, music is my therapy as well as exercise and doodling...maybe even painting! sometimes just getting it off my chest, telling someone and talking it all through works...and sometimes just putting it all down on a piece of paper and working through it, pros vs. cons....can work as well! Not bad for a dead person eh? angel yay

Some of the clients are seniors with disabilities. Rest of the clients are adults all ages with disabilities.

I enjoy relaxing in the garden. I like getting my hands in the dirt, planting some seeds, or a flower and watching the transformation of beauty emerging.

I used to do much more when I had my home, but alas now I'm confided to my balcony, but I am fortunate that a demonstration garden is just a few steps from my residence so I can go and sit there and simply soak up the sunshine, fresh air and enjoy the beauty.

Going for a pleasant and quiet nature walk helps a lot. It sort of gives you a chance to think about all things we are grateful for and how irrational our thoughts can be at times. Also taking care of a pet gives you a different perspective on life.
