Your system also work, but believe me it works for some women and does not work for some other women. They get mad when you go behind them to ask for her hand in marriage from her family.

Well like I have said in the past, I was raised in the country and grew up in the country and I am still in the country. This is the way I was raised and if she doesn't like it then I guess it wasn't ment to be.I think it shows respect for her family. I know people who are married and he hates her family and she hates his family. I think they need to respect each others families and get to know each others families.
One thing missing nowadays is respect.

How about this, call her closer on a good, romantic, and exciting day, tell her to close her eyes, go on your knees and put a ring on her finger and ask her if she will marry you.

Gordy not to many women are OK with just shacking up. Most women want a bigger commitment in the form of a marriage proposal. Shacking up I think is more of a man's idea because generally speaking men are logical thinkers and women are more emotional thinkers. Has to do with the left brain right brain thing I guess.

I agree with you, infact logical thinking has put me into a serious trouble in the past. I was trying to act on behalf of my friend but never realize i was purchasing a serious trouble.

Some of us are OK with just being engaged. It is as much of a commitment to some as being married. If living together (shacking up), or just engaged works why get married? Know people who lived together for yrs and then married and then broke up.
If I do not feel the guy is committed to me or our relationship
(or myself is not committed completely) why get married ??? It won't make a person more committed or mean they love you more.

KHD I agree but most women do not think the way that you do which is bang on. Most women see the marriage proposal as commitment. Of course commitment has nothing to do with what is wrote on paper but most will dump you in a heart beat if they do not ever hear those 4 big words.
