Quadra Island. Quadra Island is the largest island in what is known as the Gulf Islands, off of the mid-point of Vancouver Island. Its beauty is beyond belief. I stayed at the Taku Resort and would highly recommend it. I went sea kyaking (sp?) there - and I don't even know how to swim! Had a baby seal "pop" its head up, right out of the water, right beside the boat. The scenery was spectacular. The water is warm, the sea shells exquisite. There are many birds - wonderful population of bald headed eagles. "Taku" actually means "Meeting Place of the Birds". The people are wonderful. I would definately recommend Taku Resort on Quadra Island as a holiday destination. L.

I am originally from Vancouver Island... while I lived at the end of the island in a town called Port Hardy we used to do alot of hiking.

Cape Scott Provincial Park is a beautiful area. They have upgraded the trail now so that strollers and even wheelchairs can now be used on them. It is about a 45 minute hike to San Josef Bay. The site that you see there is amazing. The fresh water that runs from the river into the ocean gives off a beautiful color that is breath taking. The white sand feel so good on your bare feet.

When the tide is out you can walk to the other island that is close and even go into the caves that are along the beach. This is one of the rare spots were you can even grab some sand dollars that are found when the tide is out.

Take your camping stuff or even have your picnic there as you will want to spend the day and enjoy the beauty. The water is warm so swim away !!!

I remember, years ago, I canoed on Klaune Lake in the Yukon. It was so clear and this beautiful color of blue. You could see so far down. Peaceful. Unfortunately the wind picked up rather quicly and we paddled quickly to shore before we ended up in glacier water. Burr.
I remember it to this day.
Another time I was fortunate enough to beable to take my horse to Long Beach on Vancouver Island. October. Tied a rope around the camp site, pitched the tent. The horse stayed in there with us. Went riding on the beach. Miles and miles of sand. Full moon and the tide was way out. Must admit though that every morning when I woke up there was this nice fresh pile of , shall we say, horse apples. lol
B.C has so many wonderful places to see and visit. One could spend alot of ones life just seeing this province. Who needs to leave Canada.
I would love to see other countries, don't get me wrong. But can't afford it. Places like Africa, South America.
I would love to see the different kinds of animals, bugs, people, cultures.
Oh well, perhaps when I win the lottery. lol
