Hi all, a few of us are in the early stages of planning a get-together, possibly in Edmonton or Calgary. We would like to know how many might be intersted and any of your ideas about what we should for entertaining ourselves would be welcome as well. This would be open to all CS'ers, Canadian or International. Ken!!handshake cheers

A meet and greet is great. No one was interested in going to the works ... no art lovers I guess... even after suggesting the guy might like the 2 legged variety of art work giving the guys a bit of scenery to look at. grin

The guys from Edmonton have done it before. They went bowling etc.

Lately meet and greets are not happening.

I've meet Eyes and Gordo ... but that was while on a trip with my other half to Whitehorse.grin

I realise that people may have thier summer planned and if we do get one organised we would have to build up to it. Maybe in the fall before the weather changes. Lets just give this thread a bit of time and see what type of response it gets. Happy Canada Day guys. Hope you had a good one!!canada cheers

Not sure if I'd go as I checked out the airfares and it would be minimum $400 return for me. I honestly think I'd rather put that money toward and all inclusive holiday where I actually got some sunshine too. Even Greyhound was about the same plus tack on about 16 more hours in travel time. I was actually a little surprised at how much it cost considering its just over an hours flight. I remember the days when Westjet advertisied $99 seats across Canada - it seems those days are long gone. moping

Awwww! Guess I'll have to come down there,...our own meet and greet! And who knows? A travel buddy to someplace warm has potential. But yes, travel is getting expensive these days! Even commuting to work is getting costly!

Try not to plan for Labour Day or such,...I may not be around. Anything is fine by me. I don't drink all that much so it doesn't matter to me what the venue is.

I am flying into Abbotsford on Sun. and was able to get round trip on Westjet for $200.00. Expedia.ca offers great deals but one has to follow it daily for a period of time. On average Westjet fights to van.(on Expedia) were $275.00. I can understand your worry about expense, because one has to consider the money they will need to spend while here as well.bouquet canada

Wow Kenn that's a good deal ... they trick you with the $119 fee which all of a sudden is up to $170 or so !! lol I have to wonder how much it would cost me in gas to drive there! Surely not $400 unless I got lost and had to take a detour. Then again straight driving I've only done 6 hours so I'd probably have to stay somewhere overnight and it would end up costing me about the same.

With Expedia, there are no hidden fees, etc. Some of the other agencies do charge a fee so one has to shop around. I found Expedia to be the best. It is probably a 8-9hr. drive and you would use about 3 to 4 tanks of fuel to drive the round trip. You wouldn't save anything by driving.I have done that drive many times. Flying you are there in between 1 and 1.5hrs and don't have to worry about being burnt out because of the dive wave

I'll keep an eye on their flights as I'd actually love to go on my "real holiday" ..... haven't made it yet but I'm bound and determined because there is no point in working like crazy all the time.

Thanks, Da Moose. 2.5 hrs. and I have to drive to Calgary so I can enjoy the 1.5 wait that they require to catch my flight. LOL Probably won't get any sleep tonight (seems to happen everytime I fly). But always is worth it. Ken!!grin cheers

Fpr all too long now, it's been nearly impossible for me to plan anything, and actually be sure I could make it. Life's changed, and although it's still sorta up in the air, I have time to do things I couldn't before.

Anyone have anything cooking?dunno
