Gotta say thanks to all you young people that are going to school to get "Higher Up" jobs! You're making my life better. All you young people going to school to become computer techs, lawyers, whatever? Are making a shortage in new "Young" labourers in my line of work. Because of that, my wages are going up and life in the shop is starting to come around. "Keep going to school, don't any of you young people even think about coming to the shop! Keep in the office, you're making my life better by doing so!". rolling on the floor laughing I'm starting to think that eventually the "Shop" jobs are going to be paying better than the "Office" jobs? What's your take on this folks?

Well, I know here in Alberta they are hurting for labourers and alot of the young people out here are going to school to get "Higher Up" positions and it's causing a shortage in workers! Alot of the younger people have the attitude, "Why work hard physically if I don't have to?". I say, "Keep that attitude!". My life is getting better because of this belief! LOL!

Good point Dougie. However we need more people at least in my department. It seems there aren't many people interested in working in a warehouse where you might get your hands dirty. I think that if 3 people came in tomorrow and said they want to work, they'd be hired on the spot. And if they were attractive women, I'd never be late for work.
Come on ladies, the pay sucks but so do the benefits.

Good point Dougie

But wait anoughter 5 to 10 years, when theres no more labours at all. All these so called computor genuises are running the country.
No more road repairs, No more carpenters, No more mechanics, etc etc etc.

I'm thinkin it will be quite the show, maybe even a stand still in anoughter 20 years. Should be quite intresting.

Not sure bout where ur from. But the demand here in Alberta is pretty high, and the supply gets lower and lower everyday.

North of Toronto.

As the supply drops and the demand rises, so will the incentives.

Incentives are fine for guys who have actally done some work. How bout all these kids now a days that have never even touched a broom, never mind some labor job. What kind of incentive do you give them??? Seems like if its not connected to a game console, there not intrested.

Today it seems that manual labor is looked down upon........without it where would we be?
Hard work never hurt anyone,I've done everything from cutting trees, waitressing and animal care.Honest work is a good thing, true now I work on a computer but that's not the be all and end all in life.
It's true today that many young kids are hooked on games and it seems to be a rare few who still want to learn trades.
There will always be a need for people to do the true work....machines can only do so much.
