Is there any crime that would make you want to use the death penalty,or do you think a 'life' sentence is enough?

I believe a life sentence is enough so long as that is what it is..no parole under any circumstances......you are there for life.

I always thought that the death penalty was extreme, but the more I see of the way some'people' are the more I would personally like to be the one pulling the switch(being honest)
Life sentences are nothing more than a joke in our justice system now, unless a specific number of years is specified, they are released after the one third regulation in most cases.
As for the death sentence..why keep they person in jail for 20 yrs before actually carrying it out? I can understand if there's a possibility of an error the person should have a reasonable period to try and prove their innocence(with the methods available today it does take 20 yrs) I find that 2 yrs would be long enough for them to state their case before the sentence should be carried out.

I am not in total disagreement with you, I do have to agree that life sentences do seem to be a joke and there definately needs to be major changes to our justice system I just have moral issues with the death penalty.

I think that if someone spilled my beer, that would be worthy of a death penalty but that's just me.tongue

its been given up for less than that Cap!

but I think harsher penalties will deter crime, we need to inplement a hard line against violent crime. and youth crime...the young offenders act is becoming? a joke.

There is no question that certain crimes would sway my emotions towards the death penalty.

Yet, in general, I feel that the death penalty is a step to far for a troubled and less than perfect legal system. Besides two wrongs don't make a right. A death sentence is irreversible in case of error. Innocent people ARE convicted, some are fortunate enough to prove that, but I believe some aren't.

I agree that certain crimes should be ineligible for parole, with mandatory life sentencing, your there till you die and time served prior to trail is irrelevant, unless you prove your innocence. They should also put these inmates in with the general population, after conviction, instead of continuing to protect them.

An eye for an eye isn't always the best thing, and no killing doesn't bring people back.
Hurting others goes against my beliefs and I used to be against the death penalty, but with the atrocities of some of the crimes today I can honestly say 'hanging is too good for them'

well it seems so backwards to spend our money to house, clean and care for these animals, when we could spend .10 cents on a bullet and be done with them. Then we could spend that money on the families to cope with the loss of their loved ones. or feeding the hungry or feeding the birds for that matter but no more for them.

In all honesty I don't think it's the adult offenders that scare me near as much as some of the kids.Take the 13 yr old who killed her family,or the 2 ten yr olds who killed a 4 yr old in the uk.
I t boggles the mind to think that someone that age can conieve of murdering someone in the fashions that they did.

No one can convince me that someone that twisted at a young age can be a 'good' citizen as an adult...ain't now amount of happy pills gonna change them.

the problem is we dont understand people who doing those terrible things! but we cant kill them! not even for the best resons and hopes! this is, what ive tried to say! its not about to say feed them and give them clothes... let them work hard for the rest of their lives, but dont murder them! and lock them away, never let them out again!

the best thing you could hope for would be, let them clean mine-fields, who survives is free...

well first a life sentence should be for the rest of your life not 20 years. no parole for good behaver.

people like paul bearnard should be shot, hung and letal injected at the same time. the death penalty is nice option for serial killers and gangs like the hell angels.
