We have at least two high profile cases here in NZ where men accused of murdering families have been found innocent after ten or fifteen years in jail. New forensic testing has proven this. So i guess whilst the death penalty would be ideal... not always is someone guilty of murdering just because the police have put together a case and say they are guilty. Unfortunately until the day that the police in New Zealand are not continually in court themselves and we have a fair and just policing system then i dont think we can take that responsibility as members of society to impose a death penalty. However tougher sentences are needed here in New Zealand and early parole systems need to be abolished, they should serve their time they are given.
