Hello greenzknight........ welcome to our little forum. We are a crazy bunch, but a great one! Please join us and do some posting. 
So what is on everyone's agenda for the long? Question, what is the holiday? I think here we call it Saskatchewan day? BTW: I know it doesn't really seem like a big deal, but my son has faced many challenges on his own and we have as a "family" - he goes to the Sask. Summcer games on Sunday and I need everyone to give good thoughts to his success there - not about winning per se, about doing his best, feeling good about himself and making good behaviour choices - he rocks at mountain biking and he needs that internal strength to not give up cuz he will face athletes as good or better than him. Thanks all

Happy Holiday to all of you celebrating it today!
Here in my province its called "NB Day" New Brunswick's birthday. Not sure if there is any festivities going on today here in my city. We are sure having crappy weather I can tell you that.
Didn't do much for the long weekend. We had rain and crappy weather all weekend. Didn't feel like summer at all.
How did things go with your son and the summer games? I bet he had a great time and I am sure he did his best and that is what matters. As long as he tried his best and had fun doing it.

Don't know, opening ceremonies are today, practice runs on course and time trials for starting grid! Big long race tomorrow! & I will be there - he won't see me, but he will know I am there - Long drive very very early in morning but well worth it -have all the faith that he will do great, hope the bike survives - costly little pieces of equiptment they are! Thanks for the wishes

My father dresses up as a leprechan, gives out chocolate coins. My cousin's Irish dance school puts on performances.
Yesterday a group of African drummers were allowed to use the Irish pavillon stage..... and a very old man who played an accordian for the Scot's group, joined in. It was a great way to show all nationalities could get along.
My father at one point told some one that one drummer was his brother from Belfast, and he was black Irish.
There is an expression, "Black Irish", but no one agrees as to where it originated from so I won't attempt to explain it.
It's a popular event on the long August weekend.
