wave dunno
Okay, from what I can understand from what I could hear off the news is that the Liberals and the NDP did not like the financial budget presented by the newly elected PCs. The PCs have been told to redo the budget and if it is not what the Ls and the Ns want, they will join forces and therefore outnumber the PCs and boot them out???
Is this summary correct (ish)?
Is this going to happen every time the oppositional parties don't like what the government does, because the ruling government is the minority? Yikes....dunno

Didn't catch that news flash but your summation is pretty good. What is at risk for the Left is that if they call for another election based on the budget that the conservatives may end up with more seats than they have now. That is the gamble the Liberals and NDP would take if they did something like that.

Here we go again. The polititions playing polical chicken again. I am beginning to hate these votes of nonconfidence. Is it possible to make votes of non confidence illegal? That way the goverment in power can't push any bill through, daring the opposition to bring the govronment down. (Therefore the Harper regime would oppose it, they would actually have to make a bill appealing.) the opposition could actually kill a bill and not worry about going to an election. (But they would oppose it because they can't bring a govronment down.)

I didn't think what the Harper govronment presented was that bad. Yes they are stumbling about trying to come up with something good. But I think, no matter who was in power, they would say they are in control, and they also would be trying to figure out what to do. The opposition haven't come up with any good ideas either.

confused From what I understand, they effects of the "antics" in our Legislature are being felt on the stock market and we, as a country are being closely watched by the rest of the free world. I believe that all has the potential to reek considerable economic grief for Canadians, in one way or another. JMO, but I am thinking of many of the things that are very wrong right now, right here, in our own country - (I am not referring to the causes of such, just the results) - homelessness, the overburdened health care system, illiteracy, rising prescriptions costs, our aging population and the lack of geriatric resources, increased poverty, increased addiction ...and so on and so on.... I don't know, just kind of thinking about where and how I would like to see government bucks and attention going....just a thought angel

Glad you brought this up. I have cancelled my newspaper several months ago and often forget to listen to the news or turn it off when I hear another weather report.(every ten minutes)
I found Harper's speech unreal, phoney to me.
What a mess we are in, none of this we needed.
We have as you have pointed out, enough problems already.

After a few days of absorbing the canadian political news, and having it rattle around my brain. Here are my 2 cent opinions

-1- Prime Minister Steven Harper has had this backlash reaction coming to him for awhile. And he deserves this backlash.

-2- I don't like this backlash at all. The taught of the NDP with 10% of the poperlar vote, and 10% of the seats. Having the power to push it's agenda and getting it, scares me.

-3- One head must roll. Prime minister Steven Harper must be fired, must quit, leave (I don't care where) but he must go. The sooner the conservative replace him, the better. He has lost too much credibility and trust to continue.

Must admit I "borrowed" this off the Int. site - but just had to, cuz I did, because I wanted to - needed to share it -

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes..

This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons."

rolling on the floor laughing Somehow I think is somewhat accurate.
