I had a mate who had been going out for six months with a lady and didn't even hold hands. He was worried that the lady felt he was not interested, but had no idea what to do. So I said, you grab her hand and from her reaction you will know if your approach is welcome.

After the weekend he came to work all happy-clappy. It worked.

What are your experiences? How long do you go out before holding hands, hugging and kissing?

I dont think you can put a time on it.

Honestly with me personally I am very gun shy. I usually take the stand off approach, keep my personal space so to speak.

But when you meet someone that you know is just right, its just there. It will come naturally.

I think thats the key, when it comes natural its real.

If you need to think about it, dodge it, not look forward to it. Then there is a problem.

I don't think I have ever really held hands with anybody. uh oh I much prefer my personal space than having someone hanging onto me. I am not really a touchy feely person at all, even when people touch me when they are speaking I feel a bit 'invaded'. My mum is always telling people about my 'ring of confidence, I think she means my 'personal space' laugh but some people get really offended that I seem standoffish and probably sometimes look confused when they come in to give me a peck on the cheek. dunno

You probably should make an attempt at holding their hand after you have slipped a bit of tongue in.

Of course, the main reason (and probably why hand holding evolved) is that if you have control of their hand they won't be able to slap, stab or strangle you.

perhaps a good arm wrestle is the way to break down those touchy feely barriers.

Im not into hand holding myself.

If Im with someone Im really into Im generally walking shoulder to shoulder with them or I tend to put my hand on their arm dunno

I wish I could but I find it really uncomfortable (not only personally but physically) holding hands, and walking arm in arm. I feel uncoordinated or like I am being held down. And another thing I dislike is sitting on someone's lap?? dunno I know...i am messed up! uncertain

On the first date after the garlic prawns and VB's, you place your hand on hers, swing her around while throwing your other hand behind her to give a big embrace and then plant a big smoochie tongue kiss on her. bouquet

I don't think you are messed up Ralph. I think we all have little things that we feel invade our personal space. Mine is people that get right up in your face when they talk. I can't stand it.

I personally love sitting on someones lap. But as I said we all have a little erks and perks.

I don't like new dates sitting on my lap, it confuses my head and messes with my emotions.
