What the hell was “the red rains in India all about”?

July 2001 when red rain fell in the Indian State of Kerala. A couple of physicists "proved" it had no DNA and so it must be extra-terestrial in origin.

And it has fallen a few times since. But botanists discovered that this was the spore of an algae Trentepohlia.

Similar occurences ocurred in 1818, 1846, 1872, 1880, 1896 and even in 1950 in the area and surrounding countries. Even Charles Darwin is credited with describing it.

AA, sorry to spoil your "unexplained event" but it has been a good story. Love the net to find information.professor And found this one very interesting.

Mine or your's. My reference year was 2009. I think it was 2006 when the physists published their "conclusive findings of extra-terrestial life."

Not likely until I get my next computer upgrade and the "Paste" function is working again (so hard finding Lookins favourites again). Besides that, I have "auto delete" on all my search functions and cannot go back. I just did what you would do and did a bit more research on google. Might help you if you enter "red rains in India" with a year or "botanist" to narrow it down a bit.

I do like to see other peoples views but always good to look a bit more.(they may differ from mine but I can't help it if they are wrongrolling on the floor laughing )

them or you? in 2012 there is much uncertainty on what actually happened, even after a 10 year intense research. The problem is much bigger then first thought because of the heavy metals found. As we know heavy metals come from exploding supernovas.

Haven't a clue, AA...

Another unexplained event occurred here in Adelaide, SA probably about 12 or so years ago, could be a few more or less...

A perfect summer evening, stars were out in the night sky, and my brother and I were talking in my parents' back yard late that night. Suddenly we became aware of a bright object at the far end of the horizon and was travelling at a such a speed that it crossed the skies in seconds. The fastest jets couldn't do that. We were dumbstruck.

The next morning to our surprise, it not only got a mention on the news, but the news reported that the Defence Department had immediately dispatched air force jets to investigate. The outcome was that they could not identify the object. They simply had no idea what it was as it matched object known to them...It was the last we ever heard of it. I'm still surprised that the Air Force made such a public admission.

In June 2005, I was camped about 20km out of Woomera when something like a comet flew by at low altitude heading south. Only saw it for a few seconds. It was at least 20 times bigger than a shooting star. And defintely not a jet or rocket. We asked at Woomera the next day and they had not been testing.

That region is the perfect place being the middle of the desert. I did some contract work there on and off around 2002.

I think we have enough evidence of other intelligent life, especially since the discovery of at least one other galaxy as well as recent undecipherable communications from outer space...I just wish some of them would drop in and say g'day, though I doubt they would want to touch us earthlings with a barge pole.

That's different if going at slow speed.

I think it's the speeds which not even Defence departments can explain, which sets these other occurrences apart.

That would be cool to have a piece of meteorite....Lucky it was only tiny.

Just about every year those events occur around Australia, Adelaide seems to get more than their fair share.

Here is another interesting fact and you can explore this one yourself. All images on Google earth are blocked to area 51 yet all other military bases around US are free to view.

When I was 15 years of age I too have seen a low flying meteorite. It was so low it actually whistled as it went past. It was one unbelievable sight.

Well, I can't find that particular event I mentioned on any online official list of Defence dept ufo sightings. Yet the Air Force was definitely involved in investigating it. Odd.

Just curious...Which part of the US is area 51 meant to be situated?
