Merriweather: Wash, hi ah

I am thinking that you will be fine... prolly live with your daughter in your dottage... lol... and she will have to take your motorised keys away from you to stop you leaving the house...

Can just see the News headlines... "old gent fined for speeding down the street, on his motor wheelchair..."

Jist jokin...

Friend had to take the keys away from her adopted father because of that. Those things can get up 50km/hr.

Was only talking about it to a mate yesterday. He is into motor racing and we were having a laugh about how they would handle on a circuit. And imagine a group of 70-90yo out there with rollbars over the chairs, full racing gear and helmets. And probably half wouldn't remember why they were there in the first place.rolling on the floor laughing

Looks like I better start planning for the futurehelp

bubbles2012: I don't know about know now, but back in the 90's, Qld was means tested based on your wages,

They also integrated public housing into new housing estates, to do away with the stigma of housing commission homes,

Always means tested, otherwise Kerry Packer would have moved in.rolling on the floor laughing

There are 2 intergrated HC houses near me. The one 2 doors down has had a few tenants over the last 10 years and have always been good neighbours. The other one is across the road and 4 houses down. Seems to get the ones that don't want to fit into a quiet area. And there is a very high turnover.

My niece is trying to get a HC place for her and 2 kids. But where she wants it, they will be adults and gone before anyone moves out of a place where she wants it.

Yep, and that's the downside, you want it yesterday, but by the time one becomes available, the kids will be ready to leave the nest...and if she does get one in the area she wants and the size she requires, you can't say no thankyou, can I please have one to reflect my change of circumstances... sure...says the administrator, we'll just put you on to the end of the list... ho hum....and the cirlce begins again... seen that happen before...doh

bubbles2012: Hiya Mickey

Now there's a thought

wave

The way I see things are Australia is a huge country with a small population, people are living in the same city's where space is limited.

I have a vision if elected I will build super city's in the outback, everyone will get the house they dream of conversing

Mickey, would you accept a super city being built near John O Groats and move there? Aust is very large and underpopulated, for a very good reason. The Surveyor-General of SA produced a map line which marked the limit of the average of 10" of rain per year (Goyders Line). Average only, can be years between rains. A lot of Australia is included in this year and is not sustainable for anything much beyond tourists. Most of us cannot sustain 40 deg temps day in and day out without any real water sources. Same as you would not be able to survive sub-zero temps for any period.

I can not see why they do not utilize all the land in Australia,
There is certainly enough water under ground even in the desert areas,
There must be a reason why they do not want those areas populated.

Underground water can very from very fresh to the saltiest you can find (except Dead Sea). Aust's aquifers are a very delicate system. We have been drawing water off for many years and it is having an impact. The water table is receding.

The aquifer flow is very slow, estimated to take almost 1,000 years from Great Dividing Range in Qld to places around Lake Eyre. And who knows what quality it will be. Just out from Lake Eyre, there are the "Mound Springs" where water bubbles out of the ground. Within 200 metres, one is fresh and the next is like sea water.

Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Coober Pedy have managed to develop around just supplies of fresh water. But it is limited. Many other places rely on the infrequent rainfall to survive, or truck it in.

This will happen I'm certain of it.
With the Chinese keen to sure up future food sources, Lake Argyle will be piped into the NT to irrigate the inland where cities and service centres will pop up to serve the economies of these new farming regions.
