I am having a very reflective weekend this weekend - my baby is turning 18 yo - and not only that, she is moving out next week! sigh blues crying

I have come around to the idea a bit, at first I tried to talk her out of it, but all we did was argue! Then I thought, "Am I mad!" I will have more money, less work (washing etc.) cheering

But I will miss my girl crying

She's only moving 10 mins away - and I am sure I will hear for her when she needs $50??

Yep it hard, particularly when they are 10 mins away... when my eldest girl moved out, she was only around the corner, it felt like she never left home, but now, she lives in Brissie - ahhh no more washing...laugh

Hugs Newlife... hug but she clearly wishes to explore the world and make her own path... and this is her learning process... She will always know that she is loved and wanted, so let her go in that knowledge that she is cared for, and if its right for her she will thrive, and if she feels uncertain, she can return....

All is good when children make their first venture out... shows they are made of good stuff... well done... cheering

I had to change my way of thinking when I remembered I left home at about 19 yo?? So what's the diff?

She has more money than I had at her age, she has a car, full time job and is doing Management Training. She will be fine - or she will be back!! hug

When my Girl moved out , the first few weeks she came arround nearly ever day for a cup tea after work.....and stayed for hours, untill I asked her why she moved out when she is with me all the time......

Now...I have moved to Australia, so I have not seen her for over 6 Month and it will be December before I see her when she comes for a Visit. We both realise now how close we really where and I had a few hard Moments here when I wished for nothing more than having her walk through the Door wanting a Cuppa.

But I know one thing for sure, it doesnt matter how far away your Kids move ( or yourself) the Love you have for them will overcome any Distance and make you and your Daughter grow on it.

best of Luck

Thanks Curly, I have a great relationship with my daughter, we are very close, been through a lot together and she is very like me in lots of ways. cheering

I am proud of her - at just 18 yo she has her own car, been working since she was 14yo and now got a good job and is a Junior Manager where she works.

She is aiming to go back to England/Europe to work for some time, visit the rellys again. They just love her to bits. bouquet

Just reading some of the lovely things that friends wrote about her in her cards made me go 'Aaaaaw-she's a darling' teddybear
